The Reach

The Macallan has released its oldest single malt whisky to date—The Reach, which is aged for 81 years. The bottle pays tribute to the many characters who contributed to this whisky’s creation—the distillers who crafted this exquisite expression; one-time chairman Allan Shiach whose grandfather headed the company when it was consigned to its first cask; and master whisky maker Kirsteen Campbell who selected this 1940 whisky.

The brown spirit with a deep auburn hue and intensely rich finish is bottled in a glass decanter and is encased in a wooden cabinet made from a fallen elm tree that’s believed to come from The Macallan estate. It is also accompanied by a hand sculpture crafted by Scottish sculptor Saskia Robinson. Each of the three hands is modelled after one of the original stillman’s hand.

The release has limited availability in Singapore. For enquiries, please contact The Macallan at Raffles Hotel Singapore at  8351 3449 or email singapore@themacallan.com.

The Glen Grant 60

Whisky collectors will be glad to know that limited bottles of The Glen Grant 60 are now available in Singapore. The extremely rare and precious whisky was created to honour The Glen Grant’s own distiller Dennis Malcolm, one of the longest-serving distillers in Scotland whose storied career spans six decades.

The whisky was crafted from a single ex-Oloroso sherry cask that was first filled on October 24, 1960, making it the distillery’s oldest bottling to date. Bottled at 52.8 per cent ABV in a crystal decanter designed by Glencairn, the liquid boasts a deep chestnut colour and enticing aromas of Seville oranges, fruits and nuts, apricots, and hints of cigar smoke. On the palate, it is rich and fruity with just the right balance of dark chocolate, treacle toffee, fruit cake, figs and dates.

There are only 360 bottles available worldwide and 10 are allocated for Singapore. For enquiries, please contact Andrew Law at andrew.law@remy-cointreau.com.

Richard Hennessy

Richard Hennessy, the rarest cognac in Hennesy’s collection, is a tribute to its founder of the same name. It now comes in a brand-new Baccarat crystal decanter which is accompanied by ritual accessories (glasses, fusil and tray) designed by world-famous architect Daniel Libeskind.

Encased in the crystal decanter is the same exquisite expression—a blend of the rarest and younger eaux-de-vie in the maison's reserve. The result is an intense cognac that is aromatic as well as powerful and spicy on the palate.
