Cover Hong Kong’s Bar Leone is named World’s Best Bar for a second year in a row

Hong Kong’s Bar Leone claims top spot on The World’s 50 Best Bars list, with Bangkok, Singapore and Tokyo receiving accolades

At the 2026 World’s 50 Best Bars ceremony in Milan, Hong Kong’s Bar Leone claimed the top spot for a second consecutive year, leading a strong showing of four local honourees. Bangkok followed with three entries, while Tokyo and Singapore earned two apiece. With added recognitions for venues in Seoul and Dubai, Asia brought home 14 awards in total, cementing its position as an influential global cocktail destination.

Asia achieved a strong performance with 14 bars in the global Top 50, led by Bar Leone (Hong Kong #1), Bar Us (Bangkok #4), Zest (Seoul #7), Hope & Sesame (Guangzhou #12), Argo (Hong Kong #25), Dry Wave Cocktail Studio (Bangkok #27) and BKK Social Club (Bangkok #30). 

They are joined by Montana (Hong Kong #36), Nutmeg & Clove (Singapore #38), Gokan (Hong Kong #41), Mimi Kakushi (Dubai #42), Bar Benfiddich (Tokyo #44) and Virtù (Tokyo #48). Saikindō (Abu Dhabi) earned this year’s Seven Rooms Best Bar Design Award, while renowned bartender Shingo Gokan is named the recipient of the Roku Industry Icon Award.

Above Bangkok’s Bar Us claims fourth place for its highly conceptual approach to mixology

The 2026 list spans 26 cities across five continents. Moebius Milano (Milan) placed #2 and is named the Best Bar in Europe, sponsored by Torres Brandy, while Alquímico (Cartagen) ranked #3 and is crowned the Best Bar in South America following its recognition as the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award winner. 

Line (Athens) placed #5 and is awarded the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, while Handshake Speakeasy (Mexico City #6) and Connaught Bar (London #8) retained their spots among the world’s elite. Bar Mauro (Mexico City) takes the Disaronno Highest New Entry Award, claiming a spot for the first time at #10, while The Bar in Front of the Bar secures the Nikka Highest Climber Award after leaping 28 places. 

Europe remains the most represented region with 18 bars, followed by Asia with 14, South America with 9, North America with 8 and Australasia with 1.

Among the special awards, Panda & Sons (Edinburgh #72) earned the Siete Misterios Best Cocktail Menu Award, while Schmuck (New York #11) is named Three Cents Best New Opening.

Paradiso (Barcelona #17) is honoured with the Rémy Martin Legend of the List Award, and Takuma Watanabe is named this year’s Altos Bartenders’ Bartender.
