Bars

Virtù

Tokyo, Japan

The opulent 39th-floor bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo echoes early 20th century Paris & Tokyo

Hotel bars are cool again and Virtù, located on the 39th floor at the Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Otemachi, is easily one of the coolest. Billed as a cocktail bar and cognac lounge, it boasts a nifty menu of lesser-known Japanese brews and spirits, ranging from sake to shochu to house made Umeshu, or Japanese plum wine, and vintage liqueurs—including Japan’s only Rémy Martin Louis XIII Rare Cask bottle, a pour of which will set you back a casual 900,000 yen. The decor is wonderfully fitting, with art deco details, plush sofas and spectacular views over the Tokyo skyline. One of our favourite cocktails is the Takara, which is based on the mythological figure of Momotaro, a young hero who vanquishes demons, made with Chartreuse and Japanese Denki Bran.
