"One of my current favourite places is The Vegan Place in Hartamas. My personal recommendations are the Pakistani Mushroom Briyani and the Swedish Meatballs, but my friends swear by the Monkeyhead Mushroom Chiiken Rice and Nasi Tofu Geprek.

The modest menu is well curated so it's easy to pick something to try if it's your first time. The venue is warm, inviting and glowing with natural daylight, with friendly service to boot. Whether you fancy international or more familiar Malaysian flavours, whether you're feeling health conscious or indulgent, I feel that there's something for everyone here."

"Fuego is a great place for a sunset dinner and drinks with views of the KL skyline. I would recommend the Olive and Caper Guacamole and Cauliflower Steak, but be sure to ask for the latter without parmesan. I love that there are so many vegetarian options which they’re always happy to make vegan upon request. If you speak to Chef Shaun Lazaroo ahead of your booking, he’s also happy to come up with a new vegan menu for you."

"For a fully vegan restaurant, I would recommend The Vegan Place. I love the Nasi Tofu Geprek with Sambal Ijo or the Hainanese Chiicken Rice with Monkeyhead Mushrooms. The space is bright and airy, and food is fresh with creative dishes, not to mention service is always great!"

"I was in Penang in May 2022 and I truly enjoyed dining at Restaurant Au Jardin. They offer a 7-course Dégustation menu which can be made vegan, if you request for it in advance. They use the freshest seasonal ingredients so the menus are subject to change depending on when you're there.

Chef Kim Hock focuses on local and seasonal ingredients. Very interesting textures, beautifully plated and a lot of thought went into the components of the dish - flavours were totally on point. The emphasis was on the produce and I liked the fact that no mock meat was used."

"One of my favourite vegan restaurants is Sushi Kitchen in Kota Damansara which serves vegan sushi. I love their sushi, especially the Global Warming Maki, Fresh Potato Wedges, and Happy Spicy Noodles. Their menu is very wholesome and their food is made with fresh ingredients. The dining ambience is calm and relaxing and prices are also very reasonable."

"Another spot I visit often is Mama Kim Sauna Mee. They are not a vegan or vegetarian restaurant but provide quite a number of vegan options. I especially enjoy their signature dish, Sauna Mee, which is served in a hot pot and comes with lots of vegetables. I would personally recommend the pumpkin noodles."
