Explore the shops at Raffles Hotel Singapore and you’ll notice that the popular Japanese hat brand, CA4LA, has finally opened its first pop-up store on the island. However, it’s more than just a retail store; hidden behind it is a secret lounge fashioned after a 1920s speakeasy.
That is the Centurion Haus, American Express’ first curated space created exclusively for Centurion card members, that provides a luxurious respite from the city’s hustle and bustle. Step through the secret door (which you will discover once you’re there) and receive a complimentary welcome cocktail, Ius Centurionis, named after the Latin word for ‘elixir’.

Long Bar’s bartending team crafted the cocktail using ingredients inspired by a Roman Centurion’s diet, and the result is a refreshing and fragrant drink made with Macallan Double Cask whisky, barley, apple, chardonnay, lemon and clove. Thirsty for more? There is an expanded list of wines, whiskies and other spirits available by the glass and bottle, curated by the hotel’s beverage team.
It's best to come hungry, as you will be able to savour the food menu comprising popular local favourites—from the chicken satay served with tangy peanut sauce to the Singapore laksa, brimming with fish cakes, tiger prawns and beancurd puff. Come on Fridays and Saturdays and get serenaded by a two-piece live band.
Card Members can enjoy the complimentary cocktail each time they visit, but it’s only available until December 31 for their guests.
Centurion Haus Singapore is open every day, from 11am to 11pm. Card members may book the space through the Amex experiences app.
