This is one map we never knew we needed. It features reviews and recommendations of ice cream joints worth trying around the island, including Li's own reviews
Ice cream is no doubt a staple here in Singapore, thanks to its year-round tropical heat. With new parlours constantly popping up, it can be hard to take note of which to visit next. Fortunately for us, one ice cream aficionado has come up with a solution—a website wholly dedicated to ice cream places in Singapore. And this ice cream fan is none other than Li Hongyi, the son of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

This interactive map created by Li, who is director of Open Government Products at Singapore’s Government Technology Agency (GovTech), showcases over 100 different ice cream parlours around the island.
The extensive list is also ranked from Crème de la Crème (something extraordinary) to Crème Fraiche (non-traditional but noteworthy), with parlours including Monarchs & Milkweed and Celine’s Gelato Cart ranked at the highest tier. On the map, users are able to click on various eateries to show a pop-up introducing the specific ice cream parlour, suit with photos, reviews, recommendations and directions to get there.

According to Li’s Facebook post, he has been working on this website as a “fun side project” for a few months. Currently, some reviews of the various parlours are written by Li himself with others being linked out to various local food websites. Admitting that the list is “far from comprehensive”, he also encourages netizens to send him feedback via email and also take part in its creation.
With that, here are some of Tatler’s favourite ice cream joints around Singapore.

1. Momolato Café
The brainchild of Sharon Tay, Momolato Café hopes to “capture the essence of ripe fruits” in each scoop. Here, choose from a variety of unique tropical-inspired flavours, including oolong Kyoto hojicha, yuzu lemon with rose infused lychee, and white chrysanthemum with goji berries. Its sea salt Sicilian pistachio is a favourite among many, featuring roasted Sicilian pistachios blended with homemade sea salt pistachio nut butter, giving the ice cream a rich and creamy texture.

On top of gelato, look out for its latte collection and gelato cakes on its online website.

3. Milk and Honey Gelato
Hidden in the heartlands is Milk and Honey Gelato, a casual gelato shop offering handcrafted gelato on warm and fluffy waffles. Look forward to a wide range of artisanal gelato and sorbet, such as salty malty, choc-a-baby, and shy green nut. Try its signature milk & honey gelato, featuring creamy gelato topped with in-house made honeycomb.
Tatler tip
Get your gelato on top of its waffles. Made fresh, each waffle is crispy on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside—eaten together with ice cream, it provides a perfect balance of warm and cold with each bite.
