These joints are dishing out delectable creations that are sure to satisfy your cravings

From bagel houses to Japanese sandwich joints, we have seen various new café concepts popping up around the island this year. Even towards the year-end, the scene is still booming with new joints opening and offering mouth-watering creations. Having said that, there is no better time to head out for a café-hop this month.
 
Start in Katong, where you will find two new concepts: Flock Café and Ree and Mummy. Then, head to September Coffee in Chinatown for Korean-inspired fare before moving on to Anna’s Sourdough in Punggol for all things sourdough. End the hunt in Sembawang with The Nursery Café & Bar and revel in hearty brunch staples while surrounded by flora and fauna. With so many new openings, you are bound to find your next favourite café spot.

1. September Coffee

The latest addition to Chinatown’s booming café scene is September Coffee, a Korean-inspired café offering Korean-fusion fare. Sink your teeth into unique creations like the honey butter udon, a noodle dish comprising thick and chewy udon mixed in a rich honey butter sauce. It’s topped with tender fried chicken chunks and almond slivers. Fans of seafood will not want to miss out on the tiger prawn toast, a signature dish of buttery brioche layered with juicy tiger prawns, wasabi, mayo and cured ikura. Wash these dishes down with the Sakura Peach Blossom, a refreshing drink of Sakura, white peach and chamomile.

2. Anna’s Sourdough

Sourdough lovers can revel in comforting dishes at this sourdough speciality cafe opened by Anna Lim, co-founder of The Soup Spoon. Look forward to sourdough-based dishes like the grilled Kimcheese toastie and Just Granola and More. The former is a grilled sourdough sandwich generously stuffed with cheddar, parmesan cheese and house-made kimchi, and served alongside an aromatic tomato bisque. The latter is a sweet creation of natural yoghurt topped with house-made chocolate sourdough granola, fruits and honey. Complement the meal with the Hibiscus Bliss, a carbonated drink of sourdough hooch, hibiscus tea, elderflower cordial, blueberries and mint leaves.

3. The Nursery Café & Bar

Catch up with loved ones over a hearty meal while surrounded by lush flora and fauna at this beautiful garden-themed café located in Sembawang. Head down and savour hearty brunch fare, starting with the juicy fried chicken burger accompanied by fragrant truffle fries. Balance savouries with its sweet creations like the Very Berry waffle, a decadent treat that sees fluffy waffles topped with strawberries, blueberries and creamy gelato. Complement your meal with a cup of coffee or a refreshing cocktail—the white sangria is a medley of prosecco, Sprite, rambutan, longan and chrysanthemum.

4. Flock Café

This popular café has made its way to the east, opening its second location in Tanjong Katong. Expect classic brunch selections, the likes of braised pork cheek burger and the big breakfast. The latter is a hearty platter of poached eggs, baked beans, sausage, crispy bacon, sourdough and roasted potatoes. If you are craving something sweet, the banana French toast is finished with crispy bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup. 5. Ree and Mummy

End a meal on a sweet note at this dessert café, located in Katong V. Indulge in all things sweet, from its creamy cheesecakes to classic gelato flavours. Its charred pineapple cheesecake is a decadent creation of rich cheesecake studded with tangy pineapple chunks. Each bite offers textural contrast, thanks to the addition of torched pineapple rings. Not a fan of cheesecake? Opt for its fluffy waffle and gelato instead. Try the classic pistachio, a velvety smooth treat mixed with crunchy pistachio chunks.
