These new eateries are dishing out delectable creations that are sure to satisfy your stomach
2022 is almost over and if you have yet to explore the island’s dining scene, now is the best time to do so. For one, various new dining concepts have sprouted up across the island, tempting us with a selection of decadent brunch staples and drinks.
Start by exploring South Bridge Road, where you will find two new additions: Pomme and Dopa. The former is a quaint café and patisserie, perfect for a catch-up with friends, while the latter puts the spotlight on indulgent nut-based gelatos. Then, take a trip to town and dig into fluffy bagels at B for Bagel; or, delight in Japanese and Korean fare at Café Gui. If you have a palate for local flavours, head to Farrer Horse and revel in hearty Asian creations.

1. B for Bagel
Popular Korean bagel house has opened its first overseas outlet in Singapore, located in Tanglin Mall. Originating in Gangnam, Seoul, this bagel house offers a range of freshly made sweet and savoury bagels, including garlic bread, spinach, cinnamon orange, and fig chutney. Bagel sandwiches are available too—on top of the classic flavours, like smoked salmon, look forward to innovative fillings such as Jamon butter, and ham and fig chutney. If you prefer a sweeter treat, the peach cloud comes generously stuffed with light whipping cream and sweet peach chunks.

2. Pomme
The latest addition to South Bridge Road is Pomme, a patisserie café serving up dainty sweet creations. Keep your eyes out for its signature treats, among which are the Pomme and Gentle Daisy. The former is a dessert crafted to resemble a green apple and comprises layers of Calvados caramel, sweet apple compote, and yogurt sour cream mousse. Take a bite and revel in sweet and sour flavours. If you are an adventurous diner, the latter features a crumbly tart filled with nutty almond frangipane, passionfruit, vanilla bean cream, and sweet corn cream. Apart from sweets, savoury plates are also available, including the fork-tender 12-hour braised beef ragu pappardelle; Spanish shakshuka; and pan-seared seabass.

3. Café Gui
Can't decide if you want Korean or Japanese for lunch? Why not get both. Tucked away In Novena is Café Gui, a Korean Japanese fusion café offering the best of both worlds. Here, delight in a mix of dishes from both countries, like the bibim guksu (spicy mixed noodles) which sees cold somen noodles mixed in a sweet and spicy sauce; and Japanese chicken skewers with furikake onigiri rice. Wash these tantalising dishes down with a cup of coffee—go for the signature dalgona honeycomb, a delightful mix of milk and rich espresso, topped with bittersweet homemade dalgona honeycomb.

4. Farrer Horse
Inspired by Singapore’s first racecourse, along Farrer Park, this gastro-bar is home to a selection of Asian creations. Standouts include otah ravioli, an Asian take on the Italian favourite, comprising fish and prawn otah stuffed in a pasta parcel and dressed in a creamy and fiery coconut chilli padi sauce; and Caribbean Catch. The latter sees crisp pan-fried red snapper fillet accompanied with a spicy sauce chien, multigrain cauliflower rice, and refreshing coleslaw. Finish the meal with a nightcap at the bar—imbibe on cocktails inspired by famous racehorses, like the Hurricane Fly. 5. Dopa

Dopa Dopa Creamery has opened its sister café at Tanjong Pagar Plaza. The new gelato café puts the spotlight on nut-based gelato, featuring flavours such as pistachio, macadamia and maple pecan. Each flavour is homemade and stored in traditional Italian pozzettis (tempered stainless-steel cylinders) that help preserve its freshness. Go for the pistachio, a thick and creamy scoop that boasts bold pistachio flavours. Or, try the Ferrero, a chocolate-based gelato made with nutty hazelnut paste and balanced with bittersweet cocoa powder and dark chocolate.
