The best way to travel like a local, is to ask a local. In this series of travel guides, we ask creatives and insiders from our global community to show us their city, their way

There's a lot to love about Martine Cajucom-Ho. Charismatic, always immaculately styled and known for her exceptional taste, there's little wonder she was one of Asia's original influencers—before being an influencer was even really a thing.

The Manila-born entrepreneur also co-founded the wildly successful Sunnies brand—it includes cosmetics line Sunnies Face and eyewear label Sunnies Studios—which is now loved and available around the world.

Though her work and life remains predominantly in Manila, last year, Ho and her family officially made Melbourne their second home. There, they've bought and renovated a beautiful Victorian home, and have enjoyed exploring the city's restaurants and bars. Here are a few of her favourites so far...

Hector's Deli

Best. Fried Chicken Sandwich. Ever. Hands down. It's glorious and a must try for a casual snack or lunch.

Hotel Jesus

This place has a really fun, kitschy-casual energy, and the mezcal tequilas make me feel like I'm in Mexico again. Bonus points for being very photogenic.

Secret Kitchen

I dream of the yum cha at Secret Kitchen. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's some of the best yum cha I've had in my life, and I grew up in Hong Kong. The mango mochi is not to be missed.

Supernormal

All of my food recommendations have been on the casual side, but this is my favourite place for something a bit more high end. The burnt butter flathead is worth everything.

Spensley's

I'm not even a pizza person (it's an appetiser, not a meal, in my opinion), but the pizza shop at Spensley's has made me a massive convert. They use sour dough on all of their pizzas, and it is so comforting and delicious. The cannolis are worth a try too.

Eau de Vie

It's been a while since I've been to a bar, but this is my favourite cocktail bar in Melbourne. Each cocktail is so artful, you can really appreciate the cocktail craft here. Be sure to make a booking.

Piccolina

There's nothing more satisfying than a perfect ice cream at the end of a great meal. Don't be fooled by the hype and long lines of the other, more famous ice cream places in Melbourne. Piccolina is superior.

Good Vibes Yoga (Collingwood)

This is my favourite yoga studio I've ever been to. I love how calm and serene the space makes me feel, and the minimal design is so inspiring.

Shifting Worlds

My favourite store in Melbourne. There's always something delightful and stylish to discover here.

Jackalope Hotel

I love coming here for a weekend getaway. The transportive design of the hotel makes me feel like I've stepped into Tron. It is such a vibe.
