Fans are eager to see BIGBANG's G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung on their April 2022 return. Here is a little refresher to keep everyone on a high!

If you have danced to BIGBANG's hit songs Haru Haru, Fantastic Baby, Bad Boy, and Loser, chances are that you have had the pleasure of being alive during the peak of this boy band's career. This year, in April, they are set to return and capture the hearts of many K-Pop fans anew.

The group's agency, YG Entertainment, has unveiled the first teaser of the group's upcoming release last Monday, March 21. The photo shows a black polaroid against a white background, with an embossed text saying "BIGBANG, 0AM, April 5, 2022."

As loyal supporters wait for G-Dragon, T.O.P, Taeyang, and Daesung's comeback, Tatler is here to keep everyone on a high by listing trivia about the band: 

1. They were called the 'Kings of K-Pop'

At the peak of their career, BIGBANG members were unofficially dubbed the "Kings of K-Pop". Many devoted fans believe that the second generation group brought life to the new era of K-Pop because of their hit singles such as Bang Bang Bang and Fantastic Baby which catapulted them onto the international stage.

2. There would've been 6 BIGBANG members

The formation of the boy band was documented through the television series called Big Bang Documentary from July until their eventual debut in August of 2006. Initially, YG Entertainment meant to debut six BIGBANG members—T.O.P, Daesung, Seungri, Taeyang,G-DRAGON, and Jang Hyunseung. However, Hyunseung was cut in the final elimination round of the series.

Tatler Trivia: K-Pop star Seungri was sentenced to a three year jail time by a South Korean court for criminal activity. The former BIGBANG member left the band in 2019. 

3. BIGBANG's popularity skyrocketed with their title track 'Lies'

BIGBANG's popularity skyrocketed when the group released its breakthrough title track Lies. The song placed first on several music charts in August 2007. The track also landed them awards for the "Best Male Group" and "Song of the Year" at the 2007 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

The boys also bagged the "Artist of the Year" and "Digital Record of the Year" awards at the 17th Seoul Music Awards.

4. BIGBANG was the most searched South Korean band in 2009

By the end of 2009, BIGBANG had become the most searched boy band in South Korea. This was because its members have started to pursue their solo careers. That year, G-DRAGON released his debut album 'Heartbreaker' which won "Album of the Year" at the prestigious 2009 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

5. BIGBANG fans are called 'VIPs'

If you don't know it yet, BIGBANG's staunch supporters are called VIPs, which means 'Veri Important People'. The name reflects how the boy band treats their fans.

Tatler Trivia: Did you know that in November 2021, the VIPs sent a 'protest truck' in front of YG Entertainment's building demanding the group to have a comeback? They also demanded the record label to confirm Seungri's departure from the group.
