The 10-episode revival premiered on HBO Go on December 9 and brings back some classic characters as well as new ones

This story was first published on June 15, 2021, and updated on December 10, 2021.

If you were a major Sex and the City fan, listen up because your favourite sassy group of friends has officially returned to our screens with their new revival show, And Just Like That...

The show, which premiered on HBO Max on December 9, sees Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis reprising their roles of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes and Charlotte York. Unfortunately, Kim Cattrall, who played the iconic role of Samantha Jones, the fourth gal pal in the group, did not return for the new series.

The new show catches fans up on the cast since they were last seen together onscreen when Sex and the City 2 came out in 2010. The Sex and the City series was on screen from 1998 to 2004.

The best part is that instead of trying to pick up where the show left off, the series simply features the cast in their 50s and takes a look at how they navigate life and their friendships at this stage in their lives.

The reboot was first announced in January this year and since its announcement, Parker began sharing behind the scenes glimpses of table reads as well as teaser clips from the upcoming show much to the excitement of fans.

Other characters such as Chris Noth and Mario Cantone also reprised their roles as Mr Big and Anthony Marentino.

The show also features Willie Garson who played Stanford Blatch. Garson began filming the show earlier in the year but unfortunately passed away from pancreatic cancer in September.

He appears posthumously on the show but writers have mentioned in previous interviews that his shocking death prompted some big rewrites of the script as he was due to have a significant presence on the new show.

The show also made efforts to expand its cast list and to ensure that there was diversity onscreen.

In fact, a number of women of colour, Nicole Ari Parker, Sara Ramirez, Sarita Choudhury and Karen Pittman, were added to the cast list and issues of race and gender identity are being brought up in the show itself.

That said, it’s quite clear that these new characters exist simply to bring out different sides to the central trio and that the storyline still remains firmly on the women.

In the new show, the main characters deal with issues such as parenting older children (which they struggle with hilariously), moving into the world of greater technology (such as when Bradshaw moves her sex column to the world of podcasts) and dating in your 50s.

This is certainly no Golden Girls remake and it certainly sets itself apart from Grace and Frankie, that’s all we can say.

Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is, how on earth do we watch this in Singapore.

Thankfully, you can already watch the first two episodes on HBO Go in Singapore as long as you have a subscription. Subsequent episodes will drop every Thursday until the season ends on February 3, 2022.

Each episode is about 42 to 44 minutes and there will be 10 episodes in total.

HBO has also yet to confirm if there will be a second season though there certainly are rumours flying around so stay tuned for updates.
