Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will reunite for a special that is set to broadcast on January 1 on HBO Max
Did you know that the last Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released in 2011?
And now, 10 years on and much to the glee of Potterheads around the world, movie studio Warner Bros has announced that Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint will be reuniting with some of their other cast members from the wildly popular franchise for a special 20th anniversary TV retrospective.

The special will see Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), director Chris Columbus and other stars of the eight movies return for Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts.
The special will also be filmed on the movie set in London where the first film was made.
From what we know so far, the cast will be returning to the original Hogwarts boarding school sets that were featured in the first film, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone, which was released in 2001.

The show is one of several 20th-anniversary events that have been planned by Warner Bros for the occasion. One of the other events will be a television quiz contest for Potter fans hosted by Helen Mirren.
The quiz is set to include cameo appearances by some celebrity fans, cast members and comedians Pete Davidson and Jay Leno.
So far, it does not seem like J.K. Rowling, the author of the franchise, will be involved. Rowling has come under fire over the last few years for controversial statements she made about transgender issues.

How to watch the special in Singapore
Of course, the question on everyone’s mind is how you will be able to watch this special. The good news is that it will be available on streaming platform HBO Max on January 1 so you will be able to watch it no matter where you are as long as you have a subscription.
There has been no word yet if the special will also be free to watch on HBO like it was when the Friends Reunion special aired on May 27 this year but rest assured that we will update you should this change.
All we can say is accio January 1 because we can’t wait to see our favourite cast back together on screen.
