Asian excellence was at full display at the red carpet premiere of Apple TV+’s upcoming epic series Pachinko with Lee Min-ho, Ashley Park and more in attendance

Pachinko, the highly-anticipated epic series from Apple TV+ held its premiere at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles. The series stars Academy Award-winning actress Youn Yuh-jung, newcomer Minha Kim, Korean superstar Lee Min-ho and more.

Premiering globally on March 25, Pachinko begins with a forbidden love story that crescendos into a saga that journeys between Korea, Japan and America to tell an epic story of war, peace, loss, loss and triumph.

Soo Hugh

Soo Hugh is the showrunner, executive producer and series creator for Pachinko. She’s also an acclaimed producer and writer, having worked on The Killing (2011) and Under the Dome (2013).

Mari Yamamoto

Mari Yamamoto plays Hana, the daughter of Etsuko (Kaho Minami). Her other acting credit includes Kate (2021) and Story Game (2020).

Justin Chon

Justin Chon is one of Pachinko’s directors alongside Kogonada. He’s also one of the executive producers. In addition to directing three films so far—Gook (2017), Miss Purple (2019) and Blue Bayou (2021)—Chon is also an actor.

Minha Kim

Minha Kim plays teenage Sunja in Pachinko which is also her TV show debut. Kim has only one other acting credit to her name which is the short film Main Street (2020).

Han Jun-woo

Han Jun-woo plays Yoseb, Sunja’s brother-in-law. He has appeared in Korean dramas such as Be Melodramatic (2019), My Unfamiliar Family (2020) and the movie Extreme Job (2019). Han also had a brief role in Gangnam Blues (2015) which stars his Pachinko co-star Lee Min-ho.

Abraham Lim and Ally Maki

Abraham Lim is a film director, screenwriter and editor. He’s best known for directing, writing and acting in Roads and Bridges (2000).

Meanwhile, Ally Maki is an actress known for her role as Jess Kato in the comedy series Wrecked (2016). She also appeared in Dear White People (2017) and Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger (2018).

Jimmy O Yang

Jimmy O Yang attended the Pachinko premiere with his girlfriend. Yang is an actor and comedian, best known for his role in the movie Love Hard (2021) and TV shows Space Force (2020) and Silicon Valley (2014).

Anna Sawai

Anna Sawai plays Naomi, an employee at Sheffield’s office in Japan who works alongside Solomon (Jin Ha). Sawai starred in the blockbuster F9 (2021) and in the Netflix show Giri/Haji (2019).

Ashley Park

Ashley Park currently stars as Mindy Chen in the hit Netflix series Emily in Paris (2020). She’s also a theatre actress, having been part of Miss Saigon (2009), Jekyll & Hyde (2011) and The King and I (2015).

Chin Han

Chin Han is a Singaporean actor who’s acted on stage, film and television. The actor has appeared in movies Ghost in the Shell (2017) and Mortal Kombat (2021) and will next be seen in the Disney+ series American Born Chinese.

Kaho Minami

Kaho Minami plays Etsuko, the girlfriend of Solomon’s father Mozasu (Soji Arai). Minami is best known for For Kanako (1984), Oh Lucy! (2017), Gensan Punch (2022).

Greta Lee

Greta Lee is an actress who starred in Girls (2013), New Girl (2014) and The Morning Show (2021).

Dumbfoundead

Jonathan Edgar Park or better known by his stage name Dumbfoundeaded is a rapper and actor. He has four studio albums and EPs to his name. As an actor, he’s starred in Detention (2011) and Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens (2020).

Jeong In-ji

Jeong In-ji plays Yangjin, Sunja’s mother. Jeong is best known for her work in theatre and musicals. Outside of the stage, she appeared in the drama Lung.

Jung Eun-chae

Jung Eun-chae is playing the role of young Kyung-hee, Sunja’s sister-in-law. Jung has starred in Korean dramas such as The Guest (2018) and The King: Eternal Monarch (2020), the latter she worked with Pachinko co-star Lee Min-ho.

Kogonada

Kogonada is one of the directors of Pachinko as well as one of the executive producers, together with director Justin Chon. He directed four episodes including the pilot. Kogonada is best known for Columbus (2017) and After Yang (2022).

Richa Moorjani

Richa Moorjani is an actress best known for playing Kamala in the Netflix series Never Have I Ever (2020).

Soji Arai

Soji Arai plays Mozasu, Solomon’s father and Sunja’s son. In addition to being an actor, Arai is also a theatre actor. He was most recently seen in the Netflix series Cobra Kai (2018).

Steve Sanghyun Noh

Steve Sanghyun Noh plays Isak, Sunja’s husband. Noh’s best known for the French drama Dragon Race (2017). He’s also appeared briefly in Sense8 (2015) and in the mini-series 300-Year-Old Class of 2020 (2020).

Theresa Kang-Lowe

Theresa Kang-Lowe is one of the executive producers of the show. She’s the founder and CEO of Blue Marble Pictures and Blue Marble Management. She’s also the first Asian American woman to launch a management and production company with an exclusive producing deal.

Lee Min-ho

Lee Min-ho plays Hansu Koh, a wealthy fish broker who falls in love with teenage Sunja. Lee is a household name in South Korea with his breakthrough role as Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers (2009). He’s also starred in City Hunter (2011), The Heirs (2013) and The King: Eternal Monarch (2020).

Alan Kim

Alan Kim is best known for his performance as David Yi in the film Minari which he starred opposite Pachinko star Youn Yuh-jung.

Jin Ha

Jin Ha plays Solomon Baek, Sunja’s grandson. Ha is best known for his work in theatre, especially as Aaron Burr in Hamilton: An American Musical. Outside of the stage, he’s starred in the television series Devs (2020) and Love Life (2020).

Youn Yuh-jung

Youn Yuh-jung plays older Sunja in Pachinko. The legendary Korean actress boasts a career that spans over five decades. She’s best known for Fire Woman (1971), The Housemaid (2010) and Minari (2021)—for which she won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, the first for a Korean actress.

Zoe Chao

Zoe Chao is a stage and TV actress as well as a screenwriter. Her notable roles include Isobel in Strangers (2017) and Zoe in The Afterparty (2022).
