With the spookiest time of the year dawning upon us, we’ve looked high and low for the best family-friendly Halloween events that are fit for people of all ages. While Hong Kong isn’t the friendliest city for trick-or-treating, the little ones can still dress up and celebrate the haunting season in style. 

From an 8,000 square feet Halloween roller disco at The Pulse, to a Disney villain themed getaway at Hong Kong Disneyland, and even spooky staycation packages, we list out the best family-friendly Halloween events of 2021.

Witch Doctor’s Ball at Tikitiki Bowling Bar

When: Every Saturday in October 

Where: Tikitiki Bowling Bar, 4/F, Centro, 1A Chui Tong Road Sai Kung, Hong Kong

What: Sai Kung’s Hawaiian-themed bowling lounge, Tikitiki Bowling Bar will be hosting special Halloween-themed dinner and bowling nights every Saturday in October. With live music, giveaways, as well as a HK$500 best costume prize, be prepared for an evening of bowling fun.

Rollerween at The Pulse

When: October 30 and 31, 11am to 10pm

Where: 3/F, The Pulse, 28 Beach Road, Repulse Bay, Hong Kong

What: The Pulse will be transforming the third floor into a roller skating rink with Madame Quad on Halloween weekend. During the day, they’ll be offering three two-hour open skate sessions while at night, there will be one three-hour session with a live DJ to liven up the rink. If you’re new to roller skating, you can also sign up for skating workshops during the open skate times to learn the basics. Don’t worry if you don’t have skates—there will be rental skates as well as a limited number of skates for sale on the day. The first ten shoppers who spend over HK$800 at The Pulse can also redeem a free open skate entrance ticket each day.

Ocean Park Halloween Fest

When: Selected dates in October

Where: Ocean Park Hong Kong

What: This year, Ocean Park has decided to celebrate Halloween slightly differently from other years. Rather than their iconic haunted houses, the theme park has opted for interactive activities to minimise the risk of spreading Covid-19. From the Supernatural Ghost Tour that’s set at The Abyss roller coaster ride, to a five-metre Jack O’Lantern display, as well as a 20 Years of Horror exhibition which showcases costumes of horror actors, you’ll be in for a haunting thrill.

Halloween Staycation

Where: Luxury hotels across Hong Kong

What: Looking for a relaxing way to spend Halloween? Numerous hotels across town are offering Halloween staycation packages that include Halloween-themed meals, activities and spooky decorations, allowing you to unwind while also having a spook-tacular time.

Let’s Get Wicked Again at Hong Kong Disneyland

When: Selected dates in October

Where: Hong Kong Disneyland

What: After a two-year hiatus from Halloween celebrations, Hong Kong Disneyland has brought back its popular Halloween performances, Halloween-themed character meet-and-greets, and more. This year, the theme park has shone the spotlight onto Disney villains, with musicals, shows and parties dedicated to characters such as Cruella, Ursula and Gaston.

The Rocky Horror Show Brunch at TMK Punk & Rolls

When: October 31

Where: TMK Punk & Rolls, Shops G & H, G/F and M/F, 77-91 Queens’s Road West, Sheung Wan, Hong Kong

What: A fan of the Rocky Horror Show? TMK Punk & Rolls will be bringing the cult movie musical to life as you devour in the restaurant's hip handrolls, sushis and sake shots.

Haunted Halloween Cruise by Aqua Luna

When: October 30 and 31, selected times between 5:30 to 8:30pm

Where: Board from Central Pier 9 

What: Aqua Luna will be turning into a ship of terrors this Halloween, offering haunted harbour cruises sailing across Victoria Harbour. Adults will be offered a glass of Halloween themed cocktail, or upgrade to the free-flow drinks option. Children will also be given a glass of Halloween themed mocktail to celebrate.

Doggy Halloween at Stazione Novella

When:  October 31

Where: Stazione Novella, 52-56 Staunton Street, SoHo, Hong Kong

What: Soho's neighbourhood wine bar will be having their crowd favourite doggy Halloween again. Dress up your four-legged friends in their Halloween costume and get a drink on the house. All doggy participants even get a house-made treat to join in the Halloween spirit.

Kids' Halloween Brunch at The Optimist

When: October 31

What: The Optimist will be hosting a Halloween brunch that's suited for both adults and little ones. Tuck into a Northern Spanish brunch and join in the Halloween fun with face painting, entertainment and candy giveaway.

Ghostbusters Brunch at Tokyolima

When: October 30 

Where: Tokyolima, G/F, Car Po Commercial Building, 18-20 Lyndhurst Terrace, Central, Hong Kong

What: Tokyolima will be bringing their 80s brunch back—this time, it'll be under the theme of Ghostbusters. Dress up and head over to enjoy the restaurant's signature Nikkei dishes and pair it with free flow for an afternoon well spent.

Pumpkin Carving and Mystery Dinner at Island Shangri-La

When: October 22 to 31 

Where: Island Shangri-La, Pacific Place, Supreme Court Road, Central, Hong Kong

What: Island Shangri-La will be hosting several different Halloween celebrations including a Halloween afternoon tea and buffets, however, it’s the pumpkin carving station and Halloween mystery dinner we’ve got our eyes on. The Halloween pumpkin carving is open to both children and adults and accompanied by alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, as well as canapes of burgers and hot dogs. 

As for the Halloween mystery dinner, guests will be served a three-course set dinner with a glass of champagne at the Lobster Bar & Grill. During dinner, you’ll be immersed into an interactive detective game where guests will be invited to get to the bottom of the mystery. If you get it right, you can even win a staycation for your next visit.
