BTS to Become Disney Stars in New Streaming Partnership With Hybe

The K-pop supergroup will feature in original shows in a collaboration between its management company and the international entertainment giant

Calling the BTS ARMY: Disney+ will be producing original shows featuring members of the K-pop supergroup.

The Walt Disney Co and BTS’ record company Hybe announced the new content partnership on July 12, which will see the two firms produce five titles featuring the mega boyband to be shown on Disney’s streaming services.

The titles include BTS: Permission To Dance On Stage—LA, which spotlights the band’s 2021 Los Angeles performance; BTS Monuments: Beyond The Star, which chronicles the group’s journey over the past nine years with exclusive footage; and In the Soup: Friendcation, a reality show that features V of BTS travelling with some of the biggest names in South Korean entertainment, such as Itaewon Class’ Seo-jun Park, Parasite star Woo-shik Choi, Hyung-sik Park and Peakboy.

“This will be the start of a long-term collaboration, where we present worldwide audiences a wide range of Hybe content for fans who love our music and artists,” says Park Ji-won, the CEO of Hybe, in a statement.

“This collaboration represents our creative ambition—to work with iconic content creators and top stars in the Asia Pacific so their talent can be enjoyed by mainstream audiences in multiple ways,” says Jessica Kam-Engle, the APAC Head of Content at The Walt Disney Company, in a statement. “We believe these new titles will captivate consumers worldwide and look forward to introducing more music content on our service.”
