This week in pop music—Taylor Swift, Arctic Monkeys, and Carly Rae Jepsen are releasing albums at the same time!

If you're anywhere on the internet these days, then you know that on October 21, 2022, two of this generation's most beloved artists Taylor Swift and Carly Rae Jepsen are releasing their albums Midnight and The Loneliest Time, respectively. To put the icing on the cake, English rock band Arctic Monkeys also announced its return to the music scene with The Car.

1. Arctic Monkeys: 'The Car'

The Arctic Monkeys are back with The Car, the follow-up to its 2018 release Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino. Written by frontman Alex Turner and once again produced by James Ford, the album includes 10 tracks including "There'd Better be a Mirrorball" and "I Ain't Quite Where I Think I Am".

2. Taylor Swift: 'Midnight'

After her chart-topping albums Folklore and Evermore comes Midnights, a collection of music that Taylor Swift had written during "13 sleepless nights" scattered throughout her life. 

"The floors we pace and the demons we face. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching, hoping that just maybe when the clock strikes twelve ... we'll meet ourselves," the artist says of her album. 

Swift teased the album earlier during her acceptance speech at the recently-concluded MTV VMAs last Sunday night.

3. Carly Rae Jepsen: 'The Loneliest Time'

On October 21 comes Carly Rae Jepsen's The Loneliest Time, her "most introspective body of work to date.” It follows the singer-songwriter’s companion albums Dedicated and Dedicated Side B which were both released in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

The announcement comes just a few months after Jepsen released Western Wind in May. More tracks will be teased through her So Nice Tour which kicks off in late September in Montreal.
