Some fans just want a cool shirt with their favourite celebrity's face on it... but 'merch-land' nowadays has become a competitive arena all on its own

Fans buy merch from their favourite stars in hopes of flaunting their support. However, buying merch can be tricky—either you receive apparel that can last for years, much like a memento of sorts or a poor-quality item with the celebrity's name slapped on it.

Have a look at how celebrity merch has changed and which ones fans would find the best and worst ones ever sold below:

Would you buy your favourite celeb's tears? Following the break-up of Noah Cyrus and Lil Xan, the singer sold a vial of her own tears to promote her first album, Good Cry. Sold at Pizzaslime, the vial is said to contain 12 tears. It was only available for a limited time and priced at US$12,000.

2. Taylor Swift's Cardigan

If you take a look at Taylor Swift's newer merch, you'll find better items such as the limited-edition cardigan. It's the exact same cardigan that the Grammy-winning artist wore in her music video for Cardigan. It's definitely a better pick than the mirrorball ornament found in her store, which is merely a poorly-designed foam ball with tiny mirrors glued onto them.

3. Lady Gaga's Chromatica Soap

When COVID-19 broke out, Lady Gaga released soap bars with lyrics from her song, Replay. It was to promote both her Chromatica album and good hygiene. It's eco-friendly and is at least 3-inches big. How about that to change up the merch world?

K-pop group Bigbang has released several pieces that are worth collecting, from plush toys to lightsticks. However, there came a time when fans took to Reddit to ask about the rust forming on the entire Alive album. Although YG Entertainment released a statement saying the rust was intentional to make it appear "vintage", a few fans didn't seem convinced. Moreover, some would prefer that the album only had hints of rust, rather than being covered completely by it.
