1. Elvis' Christmas Album (1957)

Above Blue Christmas, the fifth song in the tracklist.

You may know him as the King of Rock and Roll, but Elvis Presley is also well-loved for his collection of Christmas jingles. In fact, Elvis' Christmas Album, initially released in 1957, has sold over 10 million copies and is known to be the “biggest-selling Christmas album of all time in the United States.” His popular rendition of Blue Christmas features in the six-piece album, which sets a sombre mood for a romantic slow dance with a loved one, while upbeat tracks like Santa Bring My Baby Back (To Me) might invite some rubber legs after a drink or two.

2. The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show (2019)

This soundtrack album to the eponymous Amazon Prime holiday special The Kacey Musgraves Christmas Show is a must-have for its featured artists alone. With vocals from Lana Del Rey, Leon Bridges, famed Saturday Night Live veteran Fred Armisen, and even spoken word vocals from Schitt's Creek lead Dan Levy, the album is a refreshing mix of well-known Christmas tunes, originals from Musgraves, and modern takes on the classics. Originally released on digital platforms in 2019, the album was made available in vinyl format the following year.

3. The Beach Boys' Christmas Album (1964)

No, you won't find Surfin' U.S.A. or Good Vibrations in this album, but you will nonetheless be treated to The Beach Boys' pop-rock harmonies through these festive tracks. The Beach Boys' Christmas Album features seven holiday classics as well as five original tracks from the American rock band.

4. Songs for Christmas (2006)

Although this indie-folk artist is among the lesser-known on the list, you may be familiar with Sufjan Stevens for contributions to the 2017 film Call Me by Your Name. Containing five individual EPs, Songs for Christmas is Stevens' first box set of Christmas songs, which was soon followed by a second volume titled Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas in 2012. In addition to mainstream jingles like The Little Drummer Boy, Stevens also covers traditional songs including the French carol Bring a Torch, Jeanette, Isabella, and tosses in originals such as That Was the Worst Christmas Ever!.

5. A Motown Christmas (1973)

One for the soulful and the funky, A Motown Christmas features holiday covers by some of Motown Records' famed artists. Among these popular tracks are Santa Claus Is Coming to Town performed by The Jackson 5, What Christmas Means to Me sung by Stevie Wonder, and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer covered by The Temptations.

6. Happy Christmas Beatle People! (2017)

As passionate Beatle fans—or as they are affectionately called, Beatle People—will know, the legendary English rock band regularly released Christmas records sent exlclusively to members of their fan club. In 2017, a compilation of The Beatles' holiday recordings was released, marking the first time these precious tracks were made available beyond the club. Aptly called Happy Christmas Beatle People!, the box set includes seven 7-inch records in a vivid range of festive colours, with Christmas messages that were initially released from 1963 to 1969.
