Cristina Cu and Tristan Seisa were ready to say yes to forever, no matter the weather

They had been together for five years before Tristan Seisa proposed to Cristina Cu in 2019. “Being together has always been easy and marriage felt like the natural next step for us. It was something both of us knew we wanted and were ready for,” shares Cu.

Originally, the couple wanted to tie the knot in Kyoto, Japan. They were halfway through planning the big day when the pandemic hit. “When we realised that things were going to be difficult, we began looking for a place closer to home and we instantly fell in love with Amanpulo after one of our trips. I had never dreamed of doing a beach wedding, but Amanpulo is an exception as it has so many special spots,” the bride remembers.

The couple had set up a welcome dinner at the clubhouse lagoon for the guests. Everyone was tested even before they stepped foot on the island which was exclusively closed for everyone’s safety on the days of the main event. “We also tried to feature a different side of the island, choosing more unconventional themes and venues such as our welcome dinner, held at the clubhouse lagoon [which during the day is a driveway]. Even regulars of the island were amazed [with] how we transformed the spot.”

The couple exchanged vows at the Amanpulo Beach Club while surrounded by the people they hold dear.

“This was a true blessing. It helped us appreciate how truly special it is to have so many amazing friends and family willing to take the risk to be with us. The effort of every single guest to be there was much appreciated. Their presence made it the best weekend of our lives,” they relate.

After the ceremony, the couple were led to the beach where they were surprised with 100 turtles ready to be released into the ocean. They explain, “It’s not something you can plan because the cycle of the turtles happens naturally.”

Although they had to move the reception indoors after waking up to a storm, event stylist Robert Blancaflor and his team managed to turn the clubhouse into a captivating sea of flowers.

The bride recalls, “What I loved about the venue was they were able to move the lush garden feel I had dreamed of into the space.”

“One of my favourite moments was of course the dances and speeches from some very special people,” she says. The newlyweds, as well as their friends and family, dined amid laughter and tears as they are reminded of the love that has made that special evening possible.
