A celebration of love and family, these memorable weddings were the definite highlight of society life in 2021

Despite all the unpredictability, there was plenty to celebrate in 2021. For starters, these adorable couples tied the knot! Surrounded by family and friends (and plenty of love), these society weddings made their mark and became some of the most memorable happenings this past year. Take a look back on these delightful love stories worth remembering.

1. Cher Calvin and Aki Oshima marry in LA

Originally planned for Paris in 2020, Cher Calvin and Ash Oshima decided to forego their original plans for a smaller, much more intimate wedding near their home in Los Angeles, California. “There were definitely a lot of last-minute stresses. My wedding dress wasn’t finished until 7pm the night before the wedding," revealed Calvin. Despite this, the couple were able to pull off a beautiful wedding in Beverly Hills, all to the tune of Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling in Love with You.

2. Jess Wilson And Moritz Gastl seaside nuptials

Jess Wilson and Moritz Gastl had had to postpone their nuptials multiple times. Though they'd planned to marry in Austria, the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately led them to host a simple civil wedding in Taguig last 2021. Fortunately, they were able to later celebrate their vows on the beautiful island of Culion, Palawan.

3. Paulo Bautista and Dani Osmeña's intimate wedding

Though some couples may prefer more ostentatious ceremonies, Paulo Bautista and Dani Osmeña believed in holding a more intimate celebration. The bride and groom, who have known each other since high school, planned their wedding in just three months! In fact, Dani's wedding dress was created by her own namesake label: designed by herself and her seamstress.

4. Katrina Domingo and Randy Tiu-Chua wed after three years in love

After three years in a relationship, Katrina Domingo and Randy Tiu-Chua wed in a private ceremony at Manila House. The couple, who share many similarities, share their excitement in spending the rest of their lives together—even if it meant having to postpone their wedding from 2020 to 2021. “We were both ready to settle down and start our lives together,” the bride stated.

5. Eric Sy Uy And Reena Tee wedding at Pico de Loro

Eric Sy Uy first proposed to Reena Tee near his childhood home in Bavaria, Germany. Since then, the couple, who had to face the challenge of distance began to plan their dream wedding. “It was a lot of ups and downs and uncertainties. It also didn’t help that we were both separated for nine months as I was in Hong Kong [and] Eric was in Manila," said the bride. Fortunately, their nature-inspired nuptials at Pico de Loro was immensely worth all the hardships–as can be seen in their happy smiles.

6. Childhood best friends, Robert Tan And Rachel Felicia, cement their love

Having known each other for 15 years, it only seemed the right time for Robert Tan and Rachel Felicia to finally tie the knot. Their whirlwind adventures included a proposal in Japan, a vacation in Amanpulo, and a planned trip to Botswana. “Our wedding was always about the beginning of an everlasting union and the love we shared with our [friends and family]," commented the bride.

7. Yvonne Yao And Dennis Lee celebration of love with family

Planning a wedding amid a pandemic isn't easy but Yvonne Yao and Dennis Lee made the best of it by using it as an opportunity to grow closer together. “We also got to know each other better," the bride shares. "I couldn’t imagine navigating through the wedding planning without my husband’s unconditional support, presence and influence." Surrounded by loved ones, the couple wed at St James the Great in Alabang and followed up with a reception catered by Cibo at the groom's office building.
