Read on to know more about Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna's dreamy wedding in Bataan

Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna’s love story began on top of Mt Gulugud Baboy, Batangas, where they shared their first kiss. The couple initially thought of saying “I do” on that very mountain but had to change plans due to the pandemic. Fortunately, with the help of their wedding coordinator La Belle Fete, they found an equally captivating location in Bagac, Bataan. “We just had the most beautiful sunset you could ask for,” the groom recalls.

A hill within the Rancho Bernardo Luxury Villas and Resort was aglow during sunset on November 11. The venue, which was embellished with flowers styled by Randy Lazaro, overlooks a spectacular view of lush terrain. Ramsay shares, “11-11 is my number. This number has been showing itself to Ellen and me throughout our entire relationship. . .Ellen’s complete name, when you spell it out, is 11 letters.”

Ramsay was confident about the date despite setting the ceremony during a rainy season. Lucky enough, not a single drop of rain ruined the couple’s big day.

The wedding was a surprise to Ramsay’s parents, Remedios Paggao-Ramsay and Derek Arthur Ramsay, Sr, as he never mentioned marriage in all his 44 years.

“I’ve always prayed for the right person to arrive,” the groom reveals. But that was until he announced that he wanted to marry Adarna. At the time, the two had only been seeing each other for a month, but it was enough time for them to realise that they’re a perfect match.

On the wedding day, Adarna bloomed amongst fresh pastel flowers when she made her first appearance donning an ethereal white gown by Marc Rancy, which was one out of nine other gorgeous pieces designed for the bride’s big day. Ramsay, who wore a suit by Bianca Cordero and shoes with names etched on the pair, tearfully watched his bride walk down the aisle alongside her mother, Meriam Go, to their favourite song, Freefall by Kate Torralba.

But once the two stood together and exchanged vows, they couldn’t help but make a joke to lighten up the room. Ramsay even joked, “Here we are in front of one another surrounded by all the people we love and sometimes hate—kidding!”

Making sure everyone was relaxed and having fun was their priority, after all. “We wanted everyone to enjoy the entire experience. So we had cocktails. . .and people were just getting to know each other just before the ceremony,” says Ramsay.

The bride and groom’s best friends even hosted the event, keeping all 85 guests delighted. The guests were composed of family like Adarna’s son Elias Modesto Cruz, her close friends Beauty Gonzalez, Mimi Qui Reyes and Vito Selma, Ramsay’s son Austin, and his adorable pup Riri. Big stars were also present including Vicki Belo, Hayden Kho and their daughter Scarlet Belo who served as a flower girl, Pops Fernandez, as well as sisters Alice Eduardo and Small Laude.

The couple joined the fun while being surrounded by the people they love—the same people who have seen their growth over the years—as they danced and laughed all night.
