Diving into summer in style, Tatler and Black Sheep Restaurants hosted 30 friends on June 1 for the VIP launch of Papadakis, an estiatorio at The Magistracy in Tai Kwun
When? June 1, 2022
Where? Papadakis at The Magistracy in Tai Kwun
Who? Eleanor Lam, Feiping Chang, Antonia Li, Harris Chan, Queenie Rosita Law and Elaine Kwok among other VIPs
Here’s what you missed:
The pop-up brought the beauty of the Aegean Sea to the heart of Hong Kong, with the restaurant’s blue and white interior design evoking the turquoise waters and hot sands of the Greek islands.
Guests including Queenie Rosita Law and Nadia Harilela were treated to an immersive introduction to the Greek way of life. The girls made their way into the disco den, Aperol spritzes in hand, where statues of Greek philosophers reflected the flashes of florescent lights and a glittering disco ball.
Guests walked past walls lined with mosaic art and evil-eye souvenirs into the relaxed Mediterranean dining room where, beneath the twinkle of fairy lights, the celebration really began. Mezze platters, including hummus, taramasalata, roasted aubergine and warm pita, were followed by sliced hamachi, scallop saganaki and slow-roasted lamb.
Antonia da Cruz, head of membership and education at wellness space Mindish, who was coincidentally planning a trip to Greece later this summer, enjoyed a taster of what was in store for her upcoming vacation. Fiona Fang, co-founder of sustainable clothing brand Allegory, posed alongside photographer and bride-to-be Alexandra Castro-Moore, who took advantage of the disposable cameras scattered across each table to capture snaps of the occasion.
After dinner, Tatler friends Tiffany Chan and Antonia Li explored the “souvenir shop”, where Papadakis-branded hats, pool floats and an ice cream station were waiting— Scents of Santorini, a refreshing grapefruit and olive oil sorbet, and A Greek Tragedy, honey gelato smashed with pistachio baklava and pistachio fudge, went down a treat. With bellies full, guests stepped off the pretend island back to real life, but not before one last round of ouzo. Yamas!
