Two new dial colours, three straps each, and a 34.5mm case size that aligns the Vacheron Constantin Overseas with the industry’s shift toward smaller proportions in integrated sport watches

Vacheron Constantin has added two references to the Overseas Self-Winding line, and the number worth sitting with isn’t the colour or the strap count, it’s the 34.5mm case, set in pink gold and stainless steel respectively, squarely into compact-proportions.

The pink gold model gets a lacquered rose gold dial with a sunburst satin base and a velvet-finished minutes track, paired with pink gold hour markers and blue Super-LumiNova. The steel version goes deep red; same lacquer treatment, but with white gold markers instead. That’s a small detail that actually does something: it keeps the red dial from reading as one flat colour and gives the hands contrast against the depth of it.

The movement of the watch comes from calibre 1088/1, Vacheron Constantin’s own manufacture movement, providing 40 hours of power reserve with 28,800 vibrations an hour. Overseas as the sport-luxury model that you can actually wear daily on a plane, in a boardroom and back out to dinner without switching watches but switching up the style with the interchangeable straps.

Each watch comes with three straps—the metal bracelet, a rubber strap and an alligator strap—all swappable without any tools through Vacheron Constantin’s easy-fit mechanism. It’s not a new idea in this category, but doing it well at 34.5mm, where tolerances are tighter, is harder than it looks on the bigger Overseas references. If the system holds up here the way it does at 41mm, that’s a more interesting engineering story than the dial colours.
