With their snow-set diamonds, open dials, and neutral tones, these timepieces complement your winter getaways
Ah, the pleasures of a winter getaway: crisp alpine air, snow-capped peaks, and long, unhurried moments by the fire. Pause. Reflect. Rejuvenate. Let the gadgets rest, and let these three mechanical watches keep you on time, all while evoking the tranquility of a winter retreat.
White Heat
Vacheron Constantin showcases the talent of its gem-setters with the first-ever Overseas 35mm fully set in diamonds, in both brilliant and baguette cuts. To create the invisible setting, the artisan first made tiny gold rails that remain invisible when the stones are slotted in. A diamond is cut with a tiny V-shaped groove on both sides to match the dimensions of the rails. It can take up to several hours just to set one stone. Available in white or pink gold, it is powered Calibre 1088/1 with a frequency of 4 Hz, 40-hour power reserve, and a 22k gold rotor adorned with a compass rose.

Be Present
This is the time to let go of the past year’s burden. A transparent timekeeper—clean, uncluttered, airy—represents that sense of freedom, and the Bell & Ross BR-X3 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor is the perfect watch to celebrate this carefree moment. Case and movement become one, topped with a clear sapphire glass that allows a full view of the skeletonised BR-CAL.389 calibre. Heightened by a gravity-correcting tourbillon at 5.30, the watch offers superlative precision, complete with a micro oscillating weight just above the movement plate.

All is Bright
For a slightly more literal take on winter, the Grand Seiko Heritage Collection SBGX357 “Skyflake” features a dial that mimics the colour and texture of wind-swept snow on Shinshu, near the studio where the brand’s quartz watches are produced. Powered by the 9F quartz movement, it comes in a 37mm high-intensity titanium case.
