Patek Philippe introduces two new annual calendars, as the complication celebrates 30th anniversary since its launch at Baselworld 1996
The annual calendar displays the date, day and month, requiring only one adjustment a year. Patek Philippe introduced and patented this practical complication in a wristwatch with Reference 5035 at Baselworld in 1996, presenting a happy compromise between the simple date and the expensive perpetual calendar.
This year, Patek Philippe adds two new references to its extensive collection. The first is the Annual Calendar Reference 4946G-001, a delightfully modern rendition in white gold with denim-inspired details. The 38mm case is fully polished for optimal lustre. Giving it a tactile allure is the blue-gray dial with double vertical and horizontal satin-brushed finish that recalls silk shantung fabric. Completing the look is the blue-gray calfskin leather strap with denim motif.
The maison also introduced, for the first time, mono-bloc applied Arabic numerals coated with white luminescent material for optimal legibility. The watch is powered by the self-winding Calibre 26-330 S QA LU with a moon phase display.

Introduced in 2006, Reference 5396 stood out for its harmonious dial design with a twin in-line display for the day and month at 12 o’clock, with the moon phase, 24-hour and date indicators directly below at 6 o’clock. This elegant alignment is said to be inspired by vintage perpetual calendars.
The new Annual Calendar Reference 5396R-016 celebrates this with a rose gold version matched perfectly with a radiant sand-beige dial with sunburst finishing. The obus-style applied hour markers and facted dauphine-style hands are also crafted in rose gold. The alligator-leather strap is handsome in chestnut brown and comes with a rose gold foldover clasp.
