The special exhibition invites visitors to explore the evolution of one of the most iconic timepieces in fine watchmaking
A. Lange & Söhne, the esteemed German watchmaker, is set to celebrate a significant milestone in horological history—the 30th anniversary of the Lange 1—with an exciting exhibition dedicated to the collection. Titled 30 Years of the Lange 1, the exhibition will take place at the Ion Orchard Level 1 Atrium in Singapore from October 24 to 29.
The Lange 1 was first introduced in 1994, marking a pivotal moment for A. Lange & Söhne as it re-entered the world of watchmaking after a hiatus of over 40 years. With its distinctive asymmetrical dial and outsize date display, the Lange 1 broke away from conventional design norms, establishing itself as a symbol of precision and innovation. Wilhelm Schmid, chief executive officer of A. Lange & Söhne, emphasises that “the Lange 1 is more than just a watch; it embodies our unwavering pursuit of excellence and timeless design.” This commitment to craftsmanship has made the Lange 1 a cornerstone of the brand’s identity for three decades.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the unique opportunity to admire an exclusive collection of Lange 1 models that have defined its legacy, including the original Lange 1 from 1994. This timepiece was instrumental in re-establishing A. Lange & Söhne’s reputation and remains true to its original design ethos.
Another highlight piece on display is the Lange 1 “Luminous”, which features a striking black dial with luminous markers. It is a modern interpretation that successfully showcases the versatility of the Lange 1 design.
The exhibition will also showcase the entire Lange 1 “25th Anniversary” Series—a limited edition collection of ten models that were introduced as limited editions in 2019. Each of these watches is crafted in white gold and with blue accents, and some are models with intricate hand-engraved details and sophisticated complications like moonphase and tourbillon mechanisms.

In addition to admiring the timepieces, visitors can witness live demonstrations by master engravers from A. Lange & Söhne’s Glashütte manufacture, who will showcase the meticulous artistry involved in hand engraving—an essential element that adds uniqueness to each timepiece. From detailing on balance cocks to decorative case backs, these demonstrations will offer insights into the craftsmanship that defines A. Lange & Söhne watches.
Additionally, a special video campaign will run throughout the exhibition, featuring creatives and entrepreneurs from the Asia-Pacific region, including three Singaporean A. Lange & Söhne owners. These individuals will share personal stories that highlight their inspirations and guiding principles, making the experience even more enriching.
