Appearing for the first time in the Omega x Swatch Bioceramic MoonSwatch collection, Snoopy has a unique connection to space exploration and Omega
How did a cartoon beagle, often found lazing on the roof of his doghouse in the Peanuts comic strip, become a hot property in horology? Thank NASA when it picked Snoopy as its mascot for the Apollo space programme. At the height of the Space Race in the 1960s, the American space agency needed a friendly and widely recognisable symbol to humanise the high-risk space missions, especially in the wake of the tragic Apollo 1 incident in 1967.
A Silver Snoopy Award was later created as a way for the astronauts to recognise the contributions of NASA’s employees and vendors. In 1970, Omega was awarded the Silver Snoopy for the role that its Speedmaster timepiece—also known as the Moonwatch—played in guiding the Apollo 13 crew safely back to Earth after encountering technical issues in space. In 2003, Omega released the first Speedmaster—nicknamed the Moonwatch—to feature the classic image of Snoopy. It revisited this theme only twice since—once in 2015 to mark the 45th anniversary of Apollo 13, and again in 2020 to honour 50 years since receiving the Silver Snoopy. These Snoopy-themed Omegas are prized today not just for their scarcity but also because of their connection to space exploration.
Now this beloved cartoon character has found its way to the Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch, Mission to Earthphase- Moonshine Gold, which will be available in select Swatch boutiques worldwide only on August 9, 2025.

The watch is distinguished by the Earth phase indicator at 10 o’clock, which rotates counterclockwise—the opposite direction of the moon phase at 2 o’clock. When there’s a full moon, you’ll see a new Earth. When there’s a new moon, the full Earth appears. The pair of moons is coated in radiant Moonshine Gold, a proprietary alloy of Omega.
Beneath the Earth phase is an illustration of Snoopy and his favourite co-pilot, Woodstock, taking in the sight of the Earth on the moon. The 42mm Bioceramic case, in dark navy blue, is paired with a navy rubber Velcro strap. The caseback features an engraving of the mission statement and a painting of Earth on the battery cover.
