While Gucci might not be the first name that comes to mind when thinking about underwater exploration, its new collection of diving watches is a welcome departure
Much of the fashion scene would agree that the venerable House of Gucci and its emblematic Interlocking G’s are not the type to waltz in quietly; they announce their welcome. Even the brand’s more understated designs have generated undeniable impact—a reputation that more or less describes its footing in the horology world, too.
Though some might argue that fine watches are beyond the Florentine maker’s wheelhouse, Gucci has actually been in the game since 1972. Naturally stretching its mastery of beauty and refinement toward watchmaking, the House made a bold and strategic move to establish a presence at the heart of the industry, setting up an atelier in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, where its timepieces are continually engineered and assembled today. The resulting collections have been varied, stunning, and most enviable among ardent collectors and fashion enthusiasts alike.

For its latest work, Gucci caters to the adventure seekers who fall amongst and within those circles. It has introduced five additions to the Gucci Dive lineup, presenting performance enhancements with contemporary designs to match. Notable updates across each model include a water resistance of up to 300 metres, a unidirectional ceramic bezel for safer underwater time tracking, and a Swiss-made movement with a power reserve of up to 56 hours.

The five automatics in 40mm prove that the devil is in the details. Their vibrant dials all bear the brand’s iconic motif—the Interlocking G’s—and the not-to-be-ignored case backs have been stamped with a wind rose as a nod to their nautical connection. Two classic editions with either green or blue dials feature stainless steel bracelets to match the case.
Three quartz models come in rubber straps that match the dial colours for a sportier look. These bracelets are adorned with the GUCCI script, introducing another tactile element on top of the comfortable fit. There are versions in blue, green, and black—the latter made with black PVD coating and accentuated by red details on the bezel and hands.
