Look: Vacheron Constantin Opens Its First Boutique in the Philippines

During the grand opening, invited guests had their first look at the boutique before heading to an exclusive lunch party held at Miréio, Raffles Makati. Officials from Vacheron Constantin's regional office in Singapore, as well as from Lucerne Group, the Philippines' premier purveyor of luxury watches and Swiss timepieces, joined the guests.

"What makes [this boutique opening of Vacheron Constantin] really more special is that we are celebrating our 40th anniversary this year," Lucerne Group managing director and Tatler Asia's Most Influential 2021 honouree Emerson Yao said in his speech. Since 2014, the Swiss brand has been a strong and consistent partner of Lucerne Group. With the standalone boutique's opening as one of the milestones in the group's 40th anniversary, the future of their partnership remains bright, as emphasised by Porte in his speech. "The Philippine market is really important for us because of your beautiful collectors and watch aficionados in Manila and across the country," Porte mentioned.

At the opening, Porte and his team introduce the brand's latest additions to its Traditionelle collection to the Philippine market. Vacheron Constantin's attention to women's timepieces for over two centuries is freshly interpreted through the models presented at Watches and Wonders 2022. In response to women's growing desire for complex mechanical timepieces, the Traditionnelle perpetual calendar ultra-thin watch displays its technical nature in an eminently feminine manner, while the Patrimony self-winding watch flaunts a minimalist silhouette exuding a timeless elegance symbolising a distinctive kind of watchmaking classicism.

This timepiece equipped with in-house Calibre 1120 QP elegantly plays on the distinctive aspects of the Gregorian calendar. It displays the days, dates, months and years on a four-year cycle, including a leap-year indication, without any need for correction before 2100. This calendar display is complemented by a moon-phase indication at 6 o'clock. Another distinctive feature of this movement is its thinness: measuring only 4.05 mm thick, it is housed in an 8.43 mm-thick case with a 36.5 mm diameter, ensuring perfect visual harmony.

Also introduced at the event is a new interpretation of the Overseas ultra-thin perpetual calendar model. Both contemporary and eminently horological by nature, this gold-clad piece is magnified by a sapphire dial extending an invitation to dive into the heart of its anatomy and explore its ultra-thin, entirely open-worked perpetual calendar Calibre 1120 QPSQ/1.

This self-winding manufacture (Calibre 1120) is extremely thin, measuring just 2.45 mm thick, and is already considered a classic in the world of mechanical watches. Complemented by a perpetual calendar module to form a total thickness of 4.05 mm, it nestles at the heart of the 18K 5N pink gold case with a total 8.1 mm thickness. Greatly appreciated by collectors for its reliability and performance, Calibre 1120 QPSQ/1 has been entirely skeletonised

Also to be released this year in the Philippines are timepieces from the Les Cabinotiers collection that pay homage to the legends and myths around fantastic underwater creatures, sea gods, and ships. Collectively called Les Royaumes Aquatiques, which means 'aquatic kingdoms', these watches are exquisitely crafted, with a maritime appeal and embody the brand's impeccable attention to detail.

Lastly, Vacheron Constantin is reissuing the legendary 222, launched in 1977 for the 222nd anniversary of the Maison. The watch’s bold design by Jorg Hysek marked a turning point in the Manufacture's history, thereby making a remarkable foray into the world of "sporty-chic" watches. Among the various existing 222 references, the one chosen to mark the return of the legend was Reference 44018 in 18K 3N gold with a 37 mm diameter. In keeping with the spirit of the Historiques collection, this new watch highlights Vacheron Constantin’s rich aesthetic and cultural heritage through a contemporary reinterpretation.

Vacheron Constantin remains the world’s oldest watch Manufacture in continuous production for over two centuries since it has been founded in 1755. It passes on its proud heritage of watchmaking excellence and stylistic sophistication across generations. "At the pinnacle of Haute Horlogerie and understated elegance, the Maison creates timepieces with unique technical and aesthetic signatures and an extremely high level of finishing touches," the brand wrote in a statement.
