Esteemed architect J. Antonio Mendoza revamps Greenbelt 3 with world-class design that will make your shopping experience even better

For years, people had always been drawn to Ayala Malls not only for the luxury stores but also for its creative aesthetics that are just as inviting. Ayala Land Inc.’s attention to design and architecture has been recognised, earning them the Urban Land Institute Award of Excellence and International Design and Development Award several times among many others.

"We always aim to push boundaries in creating experiences for our patrons through the design of our malls. It is important to us to create environments that capture our customers' imagination," says Chris Maglanoc, President of Ayala Malls.

We see them further push boundaries by revamping familiar grounds, particularly Greenbelt 3, into a world-class shopping centre, helmed by interior architect J. Anton Mendoza in collaboration with Ayala Malls. Mendoza’s guiding principles were subtlety, sophistication, and simplicity. He shares, "For the façade, I decided to use elegant travertine. So, we used Porcelanosa Travertino Beige flown in from Spain and designed black chamfered architraves to frame the show windows achieving an elegant and imposing façade."

The exterior, on the other hand, is minimalist. Even the halls exhibit a subtle grandeur so as not to compete with the fashion houses’ show windows.

Maglanoc praises the architect’s meticulousness and consistency. “Architect Mendoza has been a constant creative collaborator of the Ayala Group. We appreciate his design sensibilities. He brings his trademark elegance to the project with passion. We share the same values in being uncompromising in quality with the intent of elevating the shopping experience.”

Mendoza then created a befitting interior that is worthy of housing luxury brands, some of which are first-in-the-Philippines stores. Brands that are expected to open a boutique in the new Greenbelt 3 include Louis Vuitton, Dior, and Bulgari, to name a few. Tod's, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Ermenegildo Zegna are all moving from Greenbelt 4 as well. And by 2022, Fendi, Off White, Kenzo, Max Mara, Univers, and Thom Browne, while Celine, Loewe, Jimmy Choo, and a more prominent Hermès boutique will soon open.

Ayala Malls Strategic Leasing Unit Head Mark Sablan also expresses his excitement for what’s to come. "Regarded as the country's premier fashion capital, Greenbelt 3 is proud to be home to the biggest brands in the industry. The retail landscape is vast, fast-paced, and constantly evolving, and we are determined to step up our efforts in our realizing the vision of bringing only the best to our patrons."
