Singaporean streetwear designer Mark Ong AKA Mr. Sabotage has created a limited-edition watch strap set for IWC Schaffhausen

IWC Schaffhausen has brought its Top Gun exhibition to the heart of Singapore with interactive and experiential activities for all. Taking place across the level three space of Design Orchard from now until October 30, the monochromatic exhibition is decked out entirely in dark green.

This particular shade is “Woodland”, a new colour created with Pantone for IWC’s ceramic watch portfolio. Woodland was inspired by the flight suits and uniforms worn by the elite pilots in the Top Gun flight school, as well as the vast forest landscapes these pilots fly over.

Stepping into the exhibition, visitors will first notice a display of 14 professional military watches that IWC manufactured for pilots from the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps aviation units. IWC is currently the only watch brand that is officially licensed to work on watches for the entire US Navy and Marine Corps, including Top Gun, Blue Angels, and the 247 active and 100 inactive squadrons.

Further in, guests may embark on a virtual guided tour by popping on a VR headset to explore IWC’s virtual worlds in the metaverse. Created by renowned architect Hani Rashid, the four monochromatic worlds represent the colours specified by IWC and Pantone—Mojave Desert, Woodland, Lake Tahoe and Ceratanium.

There are also 1,868 NFTs specially dedicated to Singapore that visitors can collect, each unlocking exclusive access to curated virtual events within the 3D space, token-gated community channels and future physical events and services.

Other exhibition highlights include watchmaking classes for adults and children, a junior NFT class and coffee workshops.

On top of all that, IWC has also released a limited-edition watch strap set created in collaboration with Singaporean streetwear designer Mark Ong, better known as Mr. Sabotage.

Limited to just 1000 pieces worldwide, the calfskin straps are available in two different widths. Both feature Mr Sabotage’s signature camouflage pattern in green, as well as an embroidered patch in the designer’s distinctive style that detail the strap specifications.

“I first became aware of the camouflage motif when I was skateboarding back in the 1990s,” shares Ong. “It was a defining moment for me, as it gave me inspiration to design streetwear by juxtaposing different elements. Over the years, camouflage-inspired patterns and colours have become synonymous with my work and brand, so it was clear from the onset that we would also incorporate these elements into the strap. We explored many different options and finally found something we were both happy with.”
