Breguet’s modern interpretation of a pocket watch received the top prize at GPHG 2025
The GPHG Academy and its 2025 Jury—presided over by distinguished author and historian Nick Foulkes—celebrated 19 remarkable creations that underscore the industry’s enduring vibrancy at GPHG 2025. This year, the coveted Aiguille d’Or Grand Prix was awarded to Breguet for its Classique Souscription 2025, a timepiece that epitomises the maison’s poetic command of tradition and technical finesse. GPHG or Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève recognises the best in watchmaking annually, widely considered to be the Oscars of horology.
The 18th-century Souscription pocket watch demonstrated Abraham-Louis Breguet’s business savvy by making it the first watch to be marketed via print advertising. The 2025 wrist version is elegance personified—a single-hand timepiece in Breguet gold with a pristine white Grand Feu enamel dial. This marks a high point for Breguet as it celebrates its 250th anniversary under the leadership of Gregory Kissling, who became the maison’s CEO a year ago.
