This limited-edition timepiece is a cheeky nod to the upcoming Year of the Rabbit

In the lead up to the Lunar New Year, several luxury watch brands have released commemorative Year of the Rabbit editions featuring the adorable animal. There have been chic and whimsical pieces, but the new #FR2NCK Muller Vanguard is certainly the edgiest bunny watch to launch this festive season.

This is the first collaboration between Franck Muller and Tokyo-based streetwear label #FR2 (Fxxking Rabbits), and both brands have injected their unique signature elements and spirit into this special timepiece: Franck Muller’s emblematic Vanguard watch takes on a more provocative persona with #FR2’s iconoclastic rabbit motif on the dial, positioned amid the watchmaker’s signature numerals and tonneau case.

The monochromatic contrast between the matte white dial base and black hands, markings and indices gives the #FR2NCK Muller Vanguard a bold look that perfectly complements casual, street style. Additionally, the watch comes with a white nylon strap bearing black typography also typical of street fashion.

Unlike the White Rabbit in “Alice in Wonderland” that’s always running late, the bunnies on this watch stay on time—literally. #FR2's provocative Fxxking Rabbits motif sit on the dial at seven o’clock in place of hour markers. These two rabbits, along with the skeletonised obelisk hands and indices on the dial are applied with Super-Luminova to glow green in the dark.

Another highlight of the watch is its carbon and glass fibre composite Vanguard case, which is a first for Franck Muller and one that will be reserved for Southeast Asia-exclusive models. In order to achieve this high-tech material that is light yet durable, carbon powder and glass fibres are combined before a bonding resin is added.

This mixture is then baked at 150 degrees Celsius for three hours under 200 tons of pressure to yield a composite that can be machined into the necessary components. Due to the arbitrary nature of this compressing process, each watch case produced bears different patterns of striations, making each watch truly unique.

The #FR2NCK Muller Vanguard is limited to 800 pieces and is exclusive to Southeast Asia and Australia.
