The Vanguart Orb watch is a testament to the brand’s electrifying ingenuity, set to dictate the future of horology

Comfort, familiarity and sentimentality—these are just some of the reasons why we adore and admire the timepieces in our possession, and why we often return to the brands associated with them. But in a world of watches filled with unassailable names, Vanguart challenges the norm by designing timepieces that break the mould. Its newest contribution to horology, the Orb, brings to the table a futuristic touch that is unrestrained by established standards.

Vanguart chairman Mehmet Koruturk believes that they hold the advantage of being able to think outside the box. He explains, “We are not bound by decades of traditional design or manufacturing methods, allowing us to embrace cutting-edge technology, daring aesthetics and modern materials.”

Thanks to this fresh set of eyes, they can boldly go where few others dare. The beautifully spherical and symmetrical Vanguart Orb captures the imagination and invites intrigue with its in-house flying tourbillon movement, which appears to hover in the centre of the watch itself. This also allows the wearer to alternate between automatic and manual modes; when set to automatic, the diamond-set orbital winding mass comes to life, and when returned to manual mode, it is locked into place.

True to its futuristic approach, the indications utilise Super-Luminova hands and indicators, all housed within a microblasted and meticulously polished grade five titanium case. Peering inside, one can appreciate the depth and wealth of space within—all this at a total height of just over 10 millimetres. It is a watch that invites you to consider and ponder it beyond its ability to tell you the hour.

The Orb is Vanguart’s latest foray to the unexplored, which began with their Black Hole, built on the mysteries of the cosmos. “Our ethos is centered on exploring the infinite possibilities of design and engineering,” Koruturk says. “The Orb represents the perfect balance between simplicity and complexity. Both are statements of exploration, both outward into the universe and inward into the essence of timekeeping.”

This overarching theme of past and present, symmetry and balance, is impressively encapsulated by the Orb. Vanguart is seeking not just to appeal to avid collectors, but to reach out to those who want to find deeper meaning and forge personal connections with the watches they wear.
