Get a glimpse of Tatler Gen.T honouree artist Lilianna Manahan's latest project: a jewellery collection shaped and developed amid the worldwide lockdowns
As a creative, Lilianna Manahan has dabbled in furniture design, home-ware, art, and is now venturing into jewellery. Her desire to further understand her creative depths has fuelled her fire to embark on a different form of art-making amid the COVID-19 quarantine. This year, the Gen.T honouree channelled her background in wax carving to create dainty accessories that exude elegance.
Manahan, who just had her Unlimited exhibition in Modeka Art Gallery last April, continues to challenge herself by actively creating wearable pieces of art.
"This is my first collection to launch the website. Its aesthetic bounces off my fascination with the story of creation," she shared. "I took a wax carving class for casting at the end of 2019. This is what I was able to shape and develop during the first lockdown." To her, it was not only a refining of her skills but also a contemplative process in which she was able to embrace and make the best of an unlikely situation.

The collection, titled Funk In Flux is a celebration of the nuances in life that are forming into something beyond what you can imagine. "They're here to remind you of the good days and bad days, and the in-betweens where you create where you are, catch a laugh, or bust a move," she elaborates.
Manahan hopes that her craft may serve as a reminder of the beauty in life's smallest gifts, keeping us mindful and grateful.
