Last week, Christie's Magnificent Jewels live auction (28 Nov) totalled a jaw-dropping US$64M.

"We are very thankful to wrap up this year with a remarkable total of US$148M in auction sales," said Vickie Sek, chairman of Christie's Asia's jewellery department. "The exceptional results and solid sell-through rates across out live and online-only sales in 2021 reflect a rapidly reviving market with robust demand".

In addition to a stunning jadeite pendant necklace and Harry Winston Colombian emerald-set clip, last month's auction also featured the "Fluttery––Ode to Spring" brooch by Hong Kong-based jewellery artist Wallace Chan.

The ethereal creation was donated by international gallery Lévy Gorvy and sold for a whopping HK$3,125,000 (or US$402,669). All proceeds went to Teach for China, a non-profit initiative that works towards all Chinese children having access to a quality education.
