To mark the 50th anniversary of its celebrated Butterfly motif, Graff unveils a captivating collection of high jewellery masterpieces that captures the beauty, freedom and transformative power of this enchanting symbol
There is something special about the humble butterfly—one of mother nature’s most beautiful creations. Beyond its delicate and often colourful appearance, the butterfly is a universal symbol of metamorphosis, freedom, and ephemeral beauty, embodying both personal transformation and the fleeting yet profound nature of life.
Across cultures, it is seen as a harbinger of joy, a messenger of the soul, and a sign of prosperity and renewal. This poetic significance makes it a fitting muse for Graff, a brand renowned not just for having some of the world’s most spectacular diamonds but also for its mastery of light and movement in high jewellery. Since its debut in 1975, the Graff Butterfly motif has taken many forms, from refined diamond pendants to stunning brooches and watches. Each iteration captures the ethereal creature in motion; wings poised in mid-flight, forever suspended in dazzling brilliance.
To celebrate 50 years of its beloved motif this year, the British jeweller unveiled an exquisite new high jewellery collection on 20th March, coinciding with the Spring Equinox—a moment of renewal and transformation. These creations continue the legacy of this iconic motif, while embodying the artistry, precision, and unparalleled craftsmanship that has become so synonymous with the name Graff.

Above This new Graff Butterfly high jewellery necklace features a 5.04 carat emerald cut diamond, positioned at the centre of a kaleidoscope of pear shape and marquise diamond butterflies, fluttering along a curved arc of 57.13 carats of pavé emeralds
Handcrafted at Graff’s Mayfair atelier in London, the standout piece of this new collection is undoubtedly a striking new high jewellery necklace featuring a voluminous, curved arc of 57.13 carats of pavé emeralds, encircling the neckline with a bold intensity and depth of colour. At the heart of this modern, sculptural piece is a 5.04 carat emerald cut diamond that serves as the focal point, from which a kaleidoscope of butterflies radiates outwards. The vibrant green of the emeralds provides a dramatic backdrop for the delicate diamond butterflies, creating a stunning contrast of colour and light.
For those who appreciate a more subtle yet intricate expression of the butterfly motif, a second high jewellery suite unfolds in a graceful composition of pear shape and marquise diamonds. These exquisite stones gradually increase in size, tracing the curve of a sweeping pavé-set diamond arc that leads the eye to a striking 5.02-carat emerald-cut diamond at its centre. A closer look reveals that among these sparkling white diamonds are delicate butterfly motifs that appear to float downward from the centre stone, their meticulously angled wings designed to capture and reflect light with mesmerising brilliance. Crafted in white gold, the near-invisible settings enhance the luminosity of the stones, creating an ethereal sense of movement and weightlessness.
Another exquisite creation reinterprets the butterfly in a more classic, delicate arrangement of pavé-set wings and oval diamonds. Set at varying angles along a delicate line of pavé diamonds, the butterflies appear to flutter effortlessly, culminating in a pear-shaped diamond drop that adds an element of fluidity and charm. A matching bracelet and earrings echo this motif, with five intricately placed butterflies gracing the wrist and two pairs of diamond butterflies suspending perfectly matched pear-shaped drops just over the décolletage.
For Graff, the Butterfly Collection is more than an artistic expression—it is a testament to the house’s continual reinvention. “The evolution of the Graff Butterfly embodies the ethos of our house,” said the brand’s Chief Executive Officer, François Graff. “We transform, reimagine, and redefine what is possible across every aspect of jewellery-making, in a relentless pursuit of perfection to create the most fabulous jewels in the world.”
Anne-Eva Geffroy, Graff’s design director, echoed this sentiment: “Jewellery inspired by the Graff Butterfly harnesses the exquisite beauty of one of nature’s most captivating creatures. Every piece is designed to inspire the wearer—a reminder of their opportunity for transformation and ability to fly.”
As the house marks this golden anniversary, these latest additions to Graff’s kaleidoscope of Butterfly creations not only celebrate an extraordinary legacy but also offers a glimpse into its future. Much like its natural inspiration, the Graff Butterfly is poised to continue its beautiful evolution, gracing the world of high jewellery for generations to come.
