Fran Fine would approve of the Hollywood actress’s animal print outfit at Paris Fashion Week
How does one stand out at a Louis Vuitton fashion show full of Hollywood celebrities? If you ask Zendaya, the answer is simple: get a tiger print suit.
At least, that’s what the Euphoria actress wore when she made her surprise Paris Fashion Week appearance on Monday, attending the maison’s fall/winter 2023 women’s fashion show at the Musee d’Orsay. Styled by Law Roach, the same fashion expert behind her spectacular red carpet looks, Zendaya’s striking outfit seemed to come straight out of the wardrobe of another style icon: Fran Fine, the beloved star of the ‘90s sitcom, The Nanny.

Fran, who was partial to wearing cheetah and leopard spots on the show, would certainly have approved of the bold animal print seen all over Zendaya’s look—right down to her shoes. In fact, knee-high boots, like the ones worn by Zendaya, were The Nanny’s style signature.
The TV character also favoured matching ensembles that flaunted her figure. In Zendaya’s case, that translated into a cropped jacket with matching shorts, although Fran would have swapped the latter for a miniskirt instead. Beneath her jacket, the Spider-Man actress sported a black triangle bra, which would have been too daring a piece for The Nanny to wear around the Sheffield mansion where she worked, but not so for Zendaya, who recently wore a cut-out bra top to the NAACP Image Awards.
Zendaya completed her outfit with a statement black Louis Vuitton handbag, featuring the French fashion brand’s monogram. As it happens, designer fashion is right up The Nanny’s alley too; often dubbed as “the flashy girl from Flushings”, Fran frequently wore pieces from Chanel, Versace and Moschino.
But perhaps what truly cements Zendaya’s look in the same ‘90s glamour that Fran draws from is her hair. For her recent public appearances including the SAG Awards 2023, Zendaya has flaunted a dramatic blowout inspired by former supermodel Yasmeen Ghauri, a fitting hairdo that goes with her vintage-inspired ensembles. As Fran would have said herself, the bigger the hair, the better.
