The Brooklyn-based art collective once made headlines for their "Satan Shoes" which sparked controversy, although MSCHF claimed to have released it as a mere commentary on the collaboration culture. Last year, they returned with a new shoe release—the new TAP3 sneaker—which shows how persistent MSCHF is to break into the sneaker mainstream and make an impact.

The "Big Red Boot" hasn't even dropped on the website and yet the footwear is making rounds on the internet as pop culture figures like Lil Wayne makes an appearance wearing the piece.

The Big Red Boot, which has a rubber shell, is reminiscent of the anime hero Astro Boy's footwear. And for USD 350 you can have your pair.
When worn, it looks like an oversized boot that looks exactly like 3D boots taken straight from the screen.

Many have expressed their interest in the Big Red Boot yet admit that they're quite difficult to move in, let alone drive, says one commenter on Instagram. The internet is officially obsessed with the boots, and it's only one of many other newly released pieces that give an ode to nostalgic cartoon icons.
In January, Loewe surprised us with a Studio Ghibli-inspired campaign that features a cartoonish Moving Castle bag. Recently, Jimmy Choo revealed a collection in collaboration with Sailor Moon creator Naoko Takeuchi that consists of thousand-dollar boots that remind us of the show's beloved characters.
