Expect Valentino’s upcoming fashion show to be somehow tied to its magnificent setting: the Château de Chantilly.
The 19th-century castle, which sits north of Paris, is home to a treasure trove of French royal portraits and Renaissance-era jewels, but they won’t be the centre of attention on the day of Valentino’s runway show. Instead, creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli will unveil his haute couture collection for the maison, aptly titled “Un Château”.
Valentino’s teaser for the fashion show reveals very little about the actual clothes, aside from the use of sequins and feathers, but it does emphasise Piccioli’s collaborative and harmonious relationship with the craftspeople who work in Valentino’s atelier—which can only mean that, like all his previous collections for the fashion brand, his latest offering is yet another labour of love.
