In her collections for Dior, creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri has amplified a feminist message through collaborations with artists and craftswomen. For Dior’s upcoming haute couture fall/winter 2023 fashion show, Chiuri is taking that message into the sphere of the intellectual, as suggested by the French fashion brand’s show teaser featuring Italian philosopher Adriana Cavarero.
Like many of Chiuri’s artistic collaborators, Cavarero approaches her practice with a feminist angle, examining the role and significance of the feminine in ancient Western philosophy and mythology. How Chiuri will translate that into cloth remains to be seen—but we will find out soon enough.
