AJ Dee, Steven Tan, and David Guison give their styling tips and outfit ideas for you to try this coming Valentine's Day
Ah, Valentine's day. It is perhaps one of the most important dates to be dressing up. But first, make sure you've checked the first step: find a date. And for those men favoured enough to secure a 'yes' from their special someone—or those wanting to score a buzzer-beater on V-Day itself because. . .why not?—a cool look is a guaranteed way to gain some brownie points.
Now, thinking of the whole head-to-toe ensemble can be quite stressful, especially if your regular fit is more on the casual side. Lucky for you, we asked for tips from three suave gentlemen from Asia's Most Stylish list on how to dress to impress for your much-awaited date.
Hear from AJ Dee, Steven Tan, and David Guison on how to dress up for Valentine's day.
AJ Dee

"Ok, since it’s a special date you wanna dress up nicer than your ordinary style of dressing up but don’t be mistaken by dressing flashy that you go over your date, keep it classy and elegant. Be a gentleman."

"A dark sports jacket or a navy blazer paired with charcoal trousers and a pair of black (loafers or derby) leather shoes. For the shirt, you can opt for a pale pink or a light blue (oxford or poplin) cotton shirt, a great colour option to achieve a softer palette that will draw more focus to your face than your outfit. And this option will separate your look from the more formal and business counterpart of wearing a white shirt."
Steven Tan

Steven Tan is the president of SM Supermalls
"Dress comfortably and appropriately. You want to focus on your date and not on your clothes. At the same time, you don't want to be too comfortable that you appear much too casual for the chosen venue."

"While I'm all about comfort, I would also like to make an effort for special occasions. So definitely pants, no jeans. I like casual fits, not too close to the body. Short sleeves but in easy fabrics like raw silk so they fall better. For shoes, I have my go-to white LV slip-ons. Such a good 'uniform' purchase because they match all outfits."

"Don’t be afraid to dress up. Put some thought into your Valentine’s Day outfit because you know she will. It really depends on what you’ll be doing on your date, but make sure to dress to the nines—maybe go for a pair of black trousers, a crisp white polo or button down, a nice belt, a nice watch — and don’t forget to bring a jacket! There’s nothing more romantic than a guy offering his jacket/blazer to his date."

"Go for a pair of sleek black trousers, a nice pair of smart/dress shoes. You can also opt for a blazer but if this will make you feel stiff all night, you can pair it with a plain black or white shirt. Don’t forget your perfume!"
