A comedian, a tattoo artist and a menswear entrepreneur are among the men on Asia’s Most Stylish 2022 list
A stand-up comedian, a sought-after tattoo artist and a menswear entrepreneur are among Asia’s Most Stylish men who endorse individuality, exploration, and a bit of fun when dressing up. Of the 23 fashionable men on this year’s list, here are but a few who prove that men care enough to care about what they present to the world, whether it is a double-breasted jacket with gold buttons or a full tattoo sleeve offset by a white T-shirt.

If you need a template on classic menswear, look no further than AJ Dee, style enthusiast and founder of St. James Oslo. Through the Norwegian clothing company, which offers bespoke services to clients, the former actor and athlete promotes soulful garments: guayaberas for the summer, socks with tassel loafers for the weekend and a double-breasted jacket to make a statement. “Simplicity will always be the essence of good taste,” says Dee.
Artem Ansheles, Hong Kong

Multi-media creative Artem Ansheles describes style as the inverse of fashion: “While fashion is about blending in, style is about knowing who you are and being able to visualise it, regardless of the trends and ‘norms’.” To the actor, TV host, social media star (he has over 100,000 followers on Instagram) and singer, that means pushing fashion to its limits, sporting a glittering head-and-body mesh in the video sampler for his debut album I’m Shell-less or wearing a holographic bodysuit by digital fashion label Xtended Identity.
Josh Lin, Taiwan

Josh Lin is recognised for creating the most intimate form of expression: tattoos. His realistic ink art (a sly Medusa on the chest, a crucified Jesus spread across the back) is sought after by Taiwan’s rap royalty and also luxury labels, which recognise the beauty of his work. The tattoo artist has collaborated with LVMH, W Hotels, Golden Goose and more. So in demand is Lin that tattoo bookings are currently closed, reopening only by the end of the year.

Reflected in Han Pin Ma’s style is his conquer-all approach to life. Apart from being the managing director of Bakalima Sdn Bhd, he is also an entrepreneur, co-founding Pwerhouse, the boutique fitness company specialising in indoor cycling, and launching Gote, the wellness label whose portfolio includes an endurance wipe. On top of these, the very busy Ma is a social media star who shares the fullness of life dressed in a range of fashions, from a classic white tux to an oversized sweater paired with shorts.
Dan Li, China

At first glance, a comedian is an unconventional choice for Asia’s Most Stylish, but beyond Dan Li’s achievements as China’s father of stand-up comedy (Li is responsible for bringing stand-up culture to mainstream audiences in China), he has also been noticed for his refreshing style, which is discussed online. Proving that the poet and writer is, indeed, part of the fashion world, Li has recently been named a friend of Tod’s, appearing in the Italian fashion house’s fall/winter 2022 campaign.

Mandeep Chopra is the man behind Limited Edt, the sneaker hub that has 17 locations in Singapore and offers premium pairs from Nike Tier 0, Adidas Consortium and Puma Black Station, among others. In an interview with Tatler, Chopra said, “I feel my job is more important than ever now to make sure that we bring up the new generation of sneakerheads to love the culture.” One thing collectors should know is how that streetwear leader is never precious about his finds, sharing how he only buys what he would wear.
Hans Huang, Indonesia

On social media, Hans Huang presents confidence and positivity through bold looks that are often drenched in colours or patterns—or both. The H2 Management founder, who is adept at piano and vocal performance, is never afraid to express himself, choosing to stand out with his fashion choices. What does he pair with a lemon-yellow suit? An animal-print shirt, of course, and a smile.
