The Onitsuka—Onitsuka Tiger’s answer to formal footwear—has launched its first capsule collection. The Japanese fashion label has teamed up American menswear icon Nick Wooster for a range of limited-edition pieces that capture his distinctive style.
“When creating something, my approach is to complete a whole style first,” says the street style star in a statement. “This capsule collection was constructed by combining a bomber jacket with skirt pants as the base.”
The jacket, one of the key pieces from The Onitsuka x Nick Wooster, features a pocket attached to a sleeve, giving it a military-inspired look that takes cues from Wooster’s own wardrobe. There are similar utilitarian details to be found across the collaboration’s T-shirts, long-sleeved shirts, and sweaters.

The pants are by far the most complex piece of clothing from the collaboration. On the front, it’s layered with a belted and pleated skirt. On the back and along the pant leg, you’ll find more of those aforementioned functional pockets. As for how to wear the eclectic piece, one needs only refer to Wooster’s brilliant outfits featuring his signature kilt.
But this is The Onitsuka we’re talking about, so the main stars of the Japanese label’s collaboration are invariably the shoes. There are three styles to choose from The Onitsuka x Nick Wooster tie-up: the Brogue Chukka, the Wigurve Side Gore boots, and the Wigurve sneakers.
The Broge Chukka, as its name suggests, is a mash-up of classic brogues and chukka boots. The shoes comes entirely in white, which allows their embellishments, namely broguing and and lace trims, to shine. The shoes are crafted from grained leather which offers additional texture, while their noticeably jagged “shark” outsoles—a signature of The Onitsuka shoes—adds edge and durability.

The Wigurve boots are a twist on the classic Chelsea boots. Instead of flat soles, the shoes are fitted with curved, streamlined soles for more comfort. You’ll find similar soles on the Wigurve sneakers, which come in military green.
It’s one of the many functional features that The Onitsuka has adapted from best-selling Onitsuka Tiger sneakers, reflecting its technical approach to designing dress shoes. Likewise, Wooster also ensured that the footwear, handcrafted in Japan from premium leather, stayed true to the brand's spirit.
“For the shoes, I’ve studied the history of Onitsuka Tiger, which started in 1949, and updated their classic style with my own interpretation,” he shares.
