Roger Vivier's artistic director Gherardo Felloni celebrates the iconic French luxury brand's rich archives this season.
The heritage of the House of Roger Vivier spans decades, its namesake designer renowned for meticulously crafted couture-inspired shoe designs favoured by iconic women. Vivier himself was commissioned to design Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation shoes, and was the only designer to be present at the coronation itself.
Current artistic director Gherardo Felloni, acutely aware of the rich history of this storied house—after all, the Belle Vivier and the signature Vivier buckle were immortalised in the 1967 film Belle de Jour starring Catherine Deneuve—has created a new collection of beautifully embellished shoes, bags, clutches and accessories befitting soirees, balls and other formal affairs.
The fall/winter 2022 collection encapsulates the quintessential elegance of classic designs and updates them for modern times. The signature Viv’ Choc strass bag arrives in a neon pink satin variation topped with an exquisite rhinestone buckle with 25 more unique models featuring a variety of embroideries and crystal jewellery buckles.
The famous Choc heel design, originally invented by Vivier himself to capture the poised curve inspired by the neck of a slender, regal swan, also reemerges as the Choc Feathers Pump. Adorned with feathers, it can be worn with precious jewellery on the leg, just beneath the knee.
