Roger Vivier celebrates Mother’s Day with a visually stunning portfolio featuring brand ambassador Laura Dern and her daughter Jaya Harper

On Mother’s Day, Roger Vivier presents a visual portfolio featuring brand ambassador Laura Dern (Marriage Story) in a series of character portraits alongside her daughter, the 19-year-old actress Jaya Harper (Teenage Emotions). The campaign, which highlights some of Roger Vivier’s most iconic designs, is their first-ever brand campaign together.

“This is my first brand campaign, and collaborating with my mother on it has been an extraordinary experience that will undoubtedly be treasured,” Harper says. “I am immensely grateful to Gherardo Felloni for inviting me to participate in this project, where I had the privilege of showcasing legendary Roger Vivier designs like the Belle Vivier,” she adds.

Photographed in Los Angeles by Luke Gilford, the images showcase the Belle Vivier shoe, one of the House’s most iconic classics, along with some of Roger Vivier’s creative director Gherardo Felloni’s contemporary creations such as the Viv’ Choc handbag, jewel-encrusted satin headbands, an embroidered waistcoat, and a patent leather belt.

“I bought my first pair of Belle Vivier shoes in Paris many, many years ago and have been in love with the House ever since,” Dern says. “Collaborating with Jaya on this campaign has been an incredibly special experience as it was an occasion to celebrate, together and for the first time, our shared love for fashion,” she adds.

Highlighting Mother’s Day, the photographs exhibit a resemblance between mother and daughter, which echoes the timeless allure of Belle Vivier. They show how grace and sophistication can be passed down through generations.

“I met Jaya thanks to Laura when she brought her to a dinner I was hosting in LA in 2022. We instantly hit it off, and I could see a huge amount of talent in her. It’s not only her unique physical beauty but also her character, which I instantly knew would translate into beautiful pictures. Choosing the final images after this shoot was extremely difficult because they were all so good!” Felloni recalls.

In 1965, Roger Vivier’s creation of classic black pumps with an oversized chrome buckle marked a pivotal moment, showcased during Yves Saint Laurent’s Mondrian collection debut. Quickly becoming the season’s most sought-after footwear, these pumps garnered even more widespread acclaim when immortalised by Catherine Deneuve in the 1967 film Belle de Jour. The model’s iconic buckle remains emblematic of Maison Roger Vivier to this day, symbolising a perfect blend of masculinity and femininity in its geometric design.

Today, creative director Felloni constantly revitalises the Belle Vivier shoe by reinterpreting it with vibrant hues, seasonal prints, and variations of the iconic buckle. From bold slingbacks in striking colour blocks to classic mules featuring neutral and metallic tones, each pair, meticulously handcrafted by the Maison’s artisans, elevates the timeless allure of the Belle Vivier into a pinnacle of contemporary fashion.
