Cover Minh Hang has also crafted her image as a fashion icon, a key element that sustains her enduring allure

Minh Hang has completed 70 per cent of her journey in defining her personal style, turning fashion into her own distinctive language. The remaining 30 per cent continues to unfold in a process of refinement where every appearance speaks volumes before she utters a word.

After more than two decades in the arts, Minh Hang’s appeal endures, fuelled by her remarkable versatility. From singer and actress to businesswoman and producer, she continuously broadens her creative spectrum, defying any attempt to define her by a single persona. At every stage, she unveils a new facet of herself.

Can you share your current feelings when looking back on your journey of more than two decades in the arts, as well as recent changes in style and career?

Minh Hang: It is a feeling of immense gratitude and pride. Twenty years may not seem long, but it is enough for me to know I have lived my passion to the fullest. Through the highs and lows, the laughter and the tears, I have never once regretted my choices. Every challenge has shaped me, teaching patience, resilience, and most importantly, clarity about what I wish to express through art and fashion.

Are you building your own fashion language, a visual DNA the public will recognise as Minh Hang? How far along that journey are you?

Minh Hang: Absolutely! For any artist or influencer, establishing a personal language is vital. That language is not only about clothing, but also the harmony of personality, creative output, communication style, aesthetic and the connection with the audience. When these elements align, they create an identity strong enough to leave a lasting impression.

Minh Hang: At this point, I believe I’ve completed around 70 per cent. The rest will come with each milestone and stage of growth. I allow myself to evolve, to improve with every transition. Ultimately, everything converges under one name, Minh Hang, as a brand, a personal empire in its own right.

If you divided your style into three chapters, what would they be called? Which chapter remains unfinished?

Minh Hang: That’s such an interesting question (laughs). I think I’m currently living through three chapters. The first, “Finding myself”. Like a magical adventure, I experimented with everything; clothing combinations, makeup styles, hairstyles. At first, not everything worked, but those missteps helped me understand what truly suits me.

The second, “Shaping and confidence”. After my explorations, I found my home. No longer lost in endless options, I began refining what worked best, with confidence and intention.

The final chapter, “Creation and dissemination”. This is where I enjoy the rewards of self-discovery and use them to inspire others. But this chapter remains unfinished (laughs). The journey of style never truly ends. Each experience, each change, opens new pages. And I believe the further you go, the more enduring your style becomes.

Above To Minh Hang, fashion is not a measure of wealth but a language of personal value

What is the “hidden bias” in the fashion industry that you wish to break?

Minh Hang: That fashion icons must be synonymous with luxury brands. Fashion is not a measure of wealth, but a language that conveys personal worth. Someone can become a “fashion icon” by re-wearing their mother’s vintage blouse, transforming a second-hand find into something fresh, or simply combining the most basic pieces in their own way. Creativity, confidence and individuality define a true fashion icon.

Where do you draw the line between creating trends and being caught up in them? How do you preserve your identity amid constant change?

Minh Hang: That line is incredibly fine. Creating trends means establishing a personal signature strong enough to inspire others. Being caught up in trends means following blindly, blending in, and losing your identity.

To maintain balance, I follow two principles: consistency and innovation. Consistency keeps me true to myself, strengthening the Minh Hang identity. Innovation, on the other hand, is about curiosity and exploration. In a fast-changing fashion world, the key lies in discerning which trends align with who you are.

Creativity, confidence and individuality are what truly define a fashion icon.

If Minh Hang were to build her style as a fashion brand with its own DNA, what would its slogan be?

It would be: “Style is not what you wear. It’s who you are.” Every desire begins with confidence and conviction. Once you truly understand yourself, style becomes a declaration that marks every moment as uniquely yours.
