Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week was full of excitement this year with surprise appearances, stellar performances and even a public protest
The Melium Group
The Melium Group, Malaysia's leading luxury retailer, revealed its latest ambassador, Zul Ariffin, one of the most talked-about figures in the entertainment industry. He walked the catwalk in a dapper outfit from Hackett London to thunderous applause, joined by other stylish friends of Melium, including Kavita Sidhu and Roberto Giuati, Nazreem Musa, and Chef Wan.

Behati
As expected, Behati did the most at its latest fashion show. Even before it started, the entire front row—featuring Kuala Lumpur's favourite drag queens including Kumela Kumslut and Carmen Rose—were decked out in elaborate custom Behati couture, setting the tone for the whole show.
Founder and creative director Kel Wen unveiled his latest collection, Peranakan, to the atmospheric beat of Chinese drums, with an electric dance performance during a short intermission.
And the surprises kept coming. One of Malaysia's most controversial figures Dato' Seri Vida closed the show in a colourful number. It was a moment that matched Behati's historic closing number last year, where a drag queen was invited to walk at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week for the first time.

Malaysian girl group Dolla made their catwalk debut with homegrown streetwear label Neonate Clothing Company.
Group member Angel also went on to walk for another local designer, Dickson Lim, in a tailored black suit. "Thank you for having me. So happy to be by your side watching you grow up into this man making this beautiful collection along the way," she wrote to the designer after the show.
Alicia Amin Takes a Stand
Alicia Amin staged a one-woman protest at the entrance of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, representing the models who have spoken out about delayed payments for past shows from the organisation, helmed by founder Andrew Tan. This is not the first time the model and actress has been vocal on the issue, having experienced it first-hand in 2013.
Her sign read: "All models this year to be paid within the day. Those still waiting for Andrew's payment from previous years, come speak to me."
After the protest, she posted: "I am glad this long term problem was solved by 15 mins of a foam board in the air in the hands of one crazy model who knows no shame. I will be following up with everyone who was owed from other years. But I think Andrew will pay this time. I will be watching closely."

Super Sunday

Super Sunday's show on the last day of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week was the hottest show—quite literally! After energetic performances from local rappers CITIBOIS, the label's founder Zulkifli Salleh, a former graffiti artist-turned-fashion designer, closed the show alongside his models with a fire show.
