Gentle Monster and Mugler's equally avant-garde persuasions come together for an exciting new eyewear collaboration

Gentle Monster continues to push the boundaries of what eyewear design can achieve with wave after wave of groundbreaking collaborations. The label recently unveiled a brand new joint project, this time with esteemed fashion house Mugler.

The two brands have produced six new, futuristic models inspired by Mugler’s signature spiral details and married with Gentle Monster’s contemporary aesthetics. These pieces pay tribute to noted fashion industry innovators such as Helmut Newton and Manfred Thierry Mugler.

The collection is due to be released worldwide on July 18.

Cut from the same cloth, both Mugler and Gentle Monster are champions of the sci-fi visage. The former is celebrated for its avant-garde, theatrical countenance, complimented by bold silhouettes and sharp tailoring—a look that dominated the runways of the Nineties. In this collaboration, curved edges and wide, bug-like frames make up the look, a true ode to founder Thierry Mugler’s dramatic, innovative vision.

The collection consists of two unique silhouettes: Spiral 01 and Spiral 02. The geometric design of Spiral 01 takes inspiration from Mugler’s ‘Fourmis’ eyewear, first introduced in 1997 as part of the House’s ‘Les Insectes’ haute couture collection. The Spiral 02, on the other hand, features chrome detailing that echoes Gentle Monster’s futuristic design sensibilities.

His stunning visuals feature models Colin Jones and Georgia Palmer posing in various pieces from the collection, complemented with Mugler ensembles.
