The actress stuns the crowd in a black Mark Bumgarner gown—here’s everything that went down at the event

Liza Soberano has a knack for impressing the crowd wherever she goes. Just a few days ago, the celebrity made headlines for gracing the streets of New York in her Mugler x H&M ensemble—glaring proof that she has all the guts to conquer the international scene.

In yet another mesmerising red carpet look, Soberano donned a black, sparkling modern terno designed for her by Mark Bumgarner. She rubbed elbows with Hollywood’s who’s-who at the 2023 Gold Gala, an annual event celebrating cross-industry excellence through the most-recognised Asian Pacific award in the US.

Soberano, who has already attended the event for two consecutive years, was seen conversing and exchanging candid moments with notable executives and celebrities.

On his Instagram post, Bumgarner, who is currently in Manila, revealed that the actress specifically requested him to create the captivating modern terno despite being miles away from each other. “When Liza messaged me to create her look for the event, I immediately said yes despite us being on two different continents. Thank you Liza you for trusting me and my team, and representing the Philippines so well,” he said.

The designer further expressed overwhelming joy in another post. He also explained that Soberano did not have a single fitting session which is often required to assure that the garment fits the consumer’s body type. “Still feeling over the moon [after] seeing Liza at the annual Golden Gala held in Hollywood, California. [She] exudes grace, beauty, and elegance,” Bumgarner wrote.

“From the initial sketches to the final dress, with no fittings in between, the dress fits her perfectly. The journey of creating this dress was an absolute happiness. This one is pure magic.”

One of the main highlights of the night is the commemoration of the A100 list—the recipients of the definitive annual award for the 100 most impactful Asian Pacific leaders in American culture. This historic evening features a Gold Carpet with the global press, interactive experiences, groundbreaking announcements, and a meticulously-curated guest list with hundreds of multicultural luminaries and thought leaders.

Among the attendees were Asian stars like Awkwafina, Randall Park, Ashley Park, Daniel Dae Kim, Ming-Na Wen, Stephanie Hsu, Bella Poarch, and Lea Salonga.
